What are Trump supporters/nationalists protesting against via Trump?

By nearly every metric, America and the world was better off this generation than in the previous generations. Similarly, the previous generation was better now than they were during the 1970s and 1980s. What are/were Trump supporters trying to tear down that was soooo bad? Was the world order established post-WW2 -- largely through America's blood and sweat -- so unbearable that it had to be torn down?

Lets hear some answers.

Same reason Bernie gained so much traction. Elizabeth Warren said the system is rigged and some believe her. If you think the system is rigged is Hillary Clinton really the person you want to turn to for change?

I think the key thing is that many 'white' Americans had been so brainwashed that they could tolerate falling living standards while they could still feel 'racially' superior to others. What helped Trump was a hatred of human rights.

The only protests are from black supremacists and white supremacists or communists or fascists. The very word "nationalist" means a person of a particular nation; or one who likes their nation. Nothing wrong with that.

The difference is that Bernie was about fixing the remaining problems in America, rapidly, not tearing down the past 70 years and effectively pissing on the monumental gains and world order that America stood atop of. Hillary Clinton was the candidate of compromise, a true centrist -- a believer in the world that America built. She was very much the ideological parallel of Obama, except that she lacked the courage of her convictions (which is why she couldn't hold onto his base).

Contrast that with Trump. He believed in a pre-WW2 ideology, pulled straight from the brain of Charles Lindbergh. Lindbergh originated the America First ideology which felt that America should stay within its borders, help no one, and was sympathetic to Aryan genetics and Nazi values.

I live in the richest area of the country. I think things are generally great.

Hillary Clinton is the epitome of the establishment. If you wanted change it's not hard to see why people wouldn't lean on her for it.

I didn't vote for Trump so I won't speak for those who did but he clearly spoke to their concerns

There are populists who want positive progress, and populists who want to shift America's future to something very ugly. Populism is dangerous on both sides because it lights the fuse of uncertainty. Bernie was dangerous for that reason, even though his goals were generally positive.

Hillary was certainly establishment, but everyone knew she was a step back, not a step forward.

People in this country don't really know what "bad" or "broken" is.

Exactly. And the only power that can break America is America itself. There are those who know this, and its been quite a feat of judo to get Americans on the bandwagon of wanting America destroyed.
