Jury finds man guilty in terrorism hoax trial

The jury has reached the verdict in the trial of an Arizona man who sent his 16-year-old nephew into a busy intersection with a fake grenade launcher.

Court officials said late Monday afternoon the jury found Michael David Turley guilty of knowingly giving a false impression and endangerment.

Turley made a YouTube video of the July 28 hoax in northwest Phoenix.

In the video, the teen was dressed in a sheet, had a scarf wrapped around his head, made erratic movements and pointed the fake weapon at cars.

The trial began on June 11. Attorneys made closing arguments Monday at Turley's trial and jury deliberations began Monday afternoon.

Turley has pleaded not guilty to charges of endangerment and engaging in a criminal hoax.

His attorney says people who reported the hoax to 911 weren't terrified and instead figured they were witnessing a joke.

Sentencing is scheduled for August 8.

This idiot is lucky his hephew wasn't shot or ran down by a vehicle. :palm:
