January 6 panel chair: Trump 'broke the faith' of US elections
The final public meeting of the House January 6 committee is under way, with chair Bennie Thompson, a Mississippi Democrat, laying out what’s to follow during the course of the session.

Thompson opens by saying the panel has approved the release of deposition materials.

Donald Trump “broke that faith” he says of the nation’s trust in its election mechanisms:

He lost the 2020 election and knew it. But he chose to try to stay in office through a multi-part scheme to overturn the results and block the transfer of power.

We’ve never had a president of the United States stir up a violent attempt to block the transfer of power.

Lofgren: Trump's big lie 'premeditated and unlawful'

Ex-President Trump’s decision to declare victory falsely on election night wasn’t a spontaneous decision. It was premeditated. The committee has evidence that the ex-president planned to declare victory, and unlawfully to call for the vote counting to stop.

He told numerous allies about his impact and the weeks before the election. The committee found that Mr Trump raised hundreds of millions of dollars with false representations made to his online donors. The proceeds from his fundraising, we have learned, have been used in ways that we believe are concerning.

Trump’s lies, she says, directly caused the deadly Capitol attack:

Donald Trump knowingly and corruptly repeated election fraud lies, which incited his supporters to violence on January 6, [and he] continues to repeat this meritless claim that the election was stolen even today.

[He] continues to erode our most cherished and shared belief in free and fair elections.

House panel recommends criminal referrals for Trump
The January 6 House panel’s sub-committee is recommending criminal referrals for Donald Trump, his lawyer John Eastman and others for violating four federal criminal statutes, Maryland Democrat Jamie Raskin says.

They are “influencing or impeding a an official proceeding of the US government”, “conspiring to defraud the US”, “unlawfully, knowingly or willingly making false statements to the federal government”, and “assisting or engaging in insurrection against the United States”.

Four members of Congress will also be referred to the House ethics committee for refusing to comply with subpoenas, he says.

“Ours is not a system where foot soldiers go to jail, and the masterminds and ringleaders get a free pass,” Raskin said.

Imagine how Trump is going to remembered in history

According to Hope Hicks his biggest fear is being portrayed as a loser, and now he has not only cemented his legacy as a loser, but also an angry loser willing to do everything within his means to maintain the power he lost

So the usual Ministry of Truth propaganda.

DEMOCRATS are the ones that conducted election fraud (and still do).
Trump didn't lose.

Your fiction isn't going to work.

More fiction.

Maybe your constant bleating will take hold. You should take your case to the house of representatives in January.

Trump made Americans question elections. He is absolutely wrong. Our system is excellent and gives a fair and honest count. He made his followers question the healthcare system, from the CDC to hospital personnel. It was all Trump lies on steroids. He has people doubting the FBI, and capitol police. What kind of people buy into that? Have they no resistance to lies? Trump has been a fundamental threat to the American experiment. He has people fighting to tear America down. Many of those same people would have called themselves patriots in the past. Now he has them crapping in the capitol and trying to stop America from functioning. They gladly beat the capitol police injuring over 140 of them.
Trump needs to be put away like a rabid dog. He cannot be allowed to continue poisoning America.

Agree with all.

I don't think that the DOJ will have enough time to ensure that the Orange Oaf will not be able to run again.

I believe it' actually up to the RNC whether they will sit on their hands or do a full court press to keep Dump out of the running. Of course, DeSantis is no prize either, but if the Dems run Uncle Joe, he may actually have a shot (given what a bunch of wimps the Dems are in counter campaigning).

And the band played on! :|

I don't care about Trump running for office. He needs to be in prison.

But Hillary among many others on her side questioned her loss to Trump and in fact said he didnt win the election. Hillary and her demented voters also questioned the FBI and its head James Comey. Funny you dont seem to remember all that........

She mentioned she got 3 million more votes than trump. Did you remember that? Hillary conceded the next day after the election. Do you remember that? Comey was a nothing story. Hillary did not organize an insurrection and try and destroy the country. Trump did that. Do you remember?

Pretty dramatic walk-back from insurrection and coup.

And even at that there is "stay peaceful".

and it ends not with a bang but with a whimper.

Did everything go on as scheduled? Yes or no?

On the recommendation to charge Trump on aiding an insurrection, the committee said in the report’s summary that the former president “was directly responsible for summoning what became a violent mob” and refused repeated entreaties from his aides to condemn the rioters or to encourage them to leave.
