The answer is simple and unequivocal: Happier people live in countries with a generous social safety net, or, more generally, countries whose governments "tax and spend" at higher rates, reflecting the greater range of services and protections offered by the state. (These findings come from analysis of data from the World Values Surveys for the 21 Western industrial democracies from 1981 to 2007 for my book "The Political Economy of Human Happiness." But America needs to move quickly and decisively now because there is no dirty tricks the rabid right won't resort to in order to maintain the status quo and the control they have over the ordinary people. And if America doesn't move quickly then they will lose the ability to do so by losing control of government. Mexico is in that sort of a situation where there is little hope, not even a hope of a successful revolution.

If the people stand together and give Obamacare the wheels it needs then that will spell the destruction of the tea parties. That will then leave the 1% or 2% to fight against the people's best interests on their own and they know that would be a losing fight.

These are desperate times for Americans and nothing is completely decided yet. It could go very wrong if those such as the Koch brothers and their ilk are able to convince enough ordinary Americans that their interests are the same as the wealthy's.
