we were SO LUCKY to have gotten Trump

never gonna see this again. foreign aid before US needs is the typical Swamp routine

Omnibus bills full of crap = more of the same

"America First" = Biden has already refuted that

slip sliding away to mediocrity....or below, unable to do basic governing and public safety
while disincentivizing capitalism.. moribund economy

That speech exemplified why we were lucky and why Trump got elected in the first place.

The bill were an outrage and Trump was speaking for the middle and working class about it. It’s *exactly* the sort of thing that got him into office in the first place.

Tens of millions of middle/working class families have been put out of work by their own governments policy. And for their troubles, congress decides to spend extravagantly on Pakistan’s gender studies while giving the common Joe’s a $600 pittance.

I suppose people can choose to eat and keep the heat on for a month or pay the August rent with it. One or the other but not both.

Trump says what so many people think and feel. I think that means he has empathy.

Trump doesn't give a crap who starves, gets evicted or drops dead of Covid 19. The psychopathic POS just wants attention and to harass McConnell. Not even a Trump cultist is gullible enough to really believe his horse shit. hahahahahaha

You have failed to pay attention.

Even if he’s just a good actor every word was true.

In a practical sense, why does it even matter if it’s an act? As long as the results are right and for three years they were.

why do right wingers believe anything trump or fox or alex jones tells them? the covid bill and the omnibus spending bill were combined, as far as voting goes, but they are two separate bills. covid has nothing about foreign aid or funding the arts or any of that stuff. the omnibus spending bill does....two separate bills that were only voted on together. what trump is bitching about IS NOT CONTAINED IN THE COVID BILL- the $2,000 dollar payments could be changed separately in it if the republicans had gone along with it.

Coronavirus relief bill does not include foreign aid, arts funding | PolitiFact

The overall spending bill included funding for American arts centers and foreign aid, but that funding was not included in the COVID-19 relief bill. It was part of the $1.4 trillion omnibus spending bill.

You have a bizzaro definition of lucky. Much in the way finding a psilocybin mushroom when you're super hungry on a hike is.

no point in debating TDS, but that's exactly it. does it matter if it's rhetoric? Trump should veto the monstrosity
( just do a pocket veto) and FORCE CONGRESS to redo and remove the pork.

I read some place that changing $600 to $2000 dollars would be about $400 billion more in spending
(and thats not counting eliminating pork) - Chump Change for DC

They dont, you have failed at minimal understanding of the relationship between Trump and his supporters, in fact your understanding is so poor that it looks like you never tried.

Like your dear teabaggers, get confused.

One bill is a $1.4 billion omnibus bill, to keep the government running and yes, that includes foreign aid.

The other is the 900 billion covid relief bill.

Talk to the teabagger senate about the $600 pittance, congress was willing to give $2000, teabaggers wouldn't approve.

bullshit, sonny. they believe him about a rigged election, they believe they don't need masks, that getting infected is no big deal, it can create a "herd mentality," they believe in windmill cancer, that you could nuke a hurricane to make it change course or stop or whatever, and they believe his bullshit about any "pork" being in the covid bill.

what the hell are you talking about, little feller?

you have to remove the porkulus. Although for once I agree with the Squad.
we have been on a road where "deficits dont mater" because we can't control spending -not just here

so fuck it. default and let China worry about collecting - gonna happen later if not sooner
Help the American people NOW

I said bill, ding bat.

As if making two bills out of it matters. The point is tax dollars would be spent extravagantly on pork while people who are suffering on account of their own governments policy get two nickels to rub together.

such crap. it is one bill. the rest of your rant is worthless lies/and half truths. not worth responding further

veto the monstrosity, and that FORCES Congress to act to provide government funding and COVID relief

they are two separate bills but combined in one vote. you can amend one, and not the other...

The legislation already passed by Congress included two bills that were combined: One was the Covid-19 relief and stimulus bill, and the other was a large spending bill to fund the government through next September. If the spending bill is not enacted into law, the government will have to shut down Monday.

In the four-minute video, Trump trashed the legislation for including, among other things, what he said was "$85.5 million for assistance to Cambodia; $134 million to Burma; $1.3 billion for Egypt and the Egyptian military, which will go out and buy almost exclusively Russian military equipment; $25 million for democracy and gender programs in Pakistan; $505 million to Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama. Forty million for the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., which is not even open for business, $1 billion for the Smithsonian and an additional $154 million for the National Gallery of Art."

All of those items were in the spending bill, not the Covid-19 bill, which Trump seemed to be conflating.

here is what the covid bill provides-

20, 2020, Congress introduced a long-anticipated additional round of COVID relief legislation, known as the Bipartisan-Bicameral Omnibus COVID Relief Deal. This relief bill provides much-needed stimulus to individuals, businesses, and hospitals in response to the economic distress caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The House and Senate are expected to vote on the bill this evening, and the President is expected to sign it into law. The bill summary can be found here, and it was the result of last-minute frantic negotiations. The bill text has not yet been released. Below are the top ten takeaways of this bill. The Foley team will analyze the bill as soon as it is released to provide a detailed summary.

Has a price tag of $900 billion. It will be attached to a $1.4 trillion year-end spending bill, bringing the total cost of the package up to approximately $2.3 trillion, making it one of the biggest spending bills likely to be passed by the 116th Congress. Approximately $429 billion of the package will come from repurposed, unused Paycheck Protection Program funds that were appropriated in the CARES Act in March.

Includes an extension of the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation program, in which the federal government supplements state unemployment benefits. This round of the program is expected to include benefits of $300 per week for up to 10 weeks, beginning as soon as Dec. 27, 2020.

The legislation helps the unemployed further with a $25 billion temporary and targeted rental assistance program, and extends the eviction moratorium through January 31, 2021.

Provides a new round of stimulus checks at $600 per individual, including children, under an income threshold of $75,000 per year or more. It will also provide food assistance to struggling families through increases in SNAP benefits, funding for the Commodity Supplemental Food Program, and support for farmers.

Includes roughly $325 billion for small business loans, including a second round of the Paycheck Protection Program. It will make the loan forgiveness process more simplified for borrowers with loans of $150,000 or less.

Includes $82 billion in education funding, including K-12 and higher education to assist with reopening for in-person learning. The bill includes aid for private schools, territories, and the Bureau of Indian education. It will also allow for $10 billion in grants to childcare centers to help providers safely reopen.

Provides $68 billion in funding to assist with testing, tracing, vaccine development, and vaccine distribution. Pfizer and Moderna have both received emergency authorization for their COVID-19 vaccines, and each state is in charge of distribution, making funding in this category particularly important.

Helps the transportation sector with $50 billion in assistance for airlines ($16 billion), airports ($2 billion), highways ($10 billion), buses ($2 billion), Amtrak ($1 billion), and public transit ($14 billion). It will also help the U.S. Postal Service by eliminating a loan repayment requirement from the CARES Act.

Provides $3 billion to the Healthcare Provider Relief Fund, which will reimburse providers for added expenses and lost revenue due to the pandemic.

Republicans and Democrats hope to work toward at least one more relief package early next year in the 117th Congress. The GOP will look to include liability protections from lawsuits for businesses or schools that were open during the pandemic. Democrats, meanwhile, will hope to include a large pot of money for state and local governments.

Really?

Where was Dotard the past 7 months?

He had Moscow McTurtle and Mnuchin negotiating for him, the only time he he made a comment was on October 6th.

President Trumpsaid Tuesday that he has instructed his top aides to stop negotiating with Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on future coronavirus stimulus legislation until after the November election, a risky move just weeks before voters head to the polls.

"I have instructed my representatives to stop negotiating until after the election when, immediately after I win, we will pass a major Stimulus Bill that focuses on hardworking Americans and Small Business," Trump tweeted.

It is and that’s part of the outrage.

It’s like congress is *trying* to keep their approval numbers in the tank. The only way to fix congress is with term limits and I don’t see it happening.

The House controls the purse.

Who is in charge of the House and what has she been doing the past seven months besides cheating on COVID rules?
