Ok, so we have first responders who charged into the dust & rubble, ignoring their own safety, to try and rescue people.

That action exposed them to things that have made them ill.

And the House republicans voted against money to help them? Assholes
And the house democrats went with this stupid measure that required a 2/3 majority? Idiots

About the only reason to vote against would be some argument over proper Federal authority, but unless you are Ron Paul, you don't get to use that one.

The Democrats are using politics too, though. I partly wonder if they did not use the procedure just so they could bash Republicans over it's failure. Unless A. Weiner was critical of the Democrats in his spitch (my new word for speech that is heavy on spit) then it was all just for show.

He did, but I think he was a little soft on them. Something about they did not want to allow amendments to be made, which he criticized as being stupid. I seriously doubt that. All this stuff about the Dems just being pussies or incompetent is nonsense. They know what they are doing. I think they used the procedure so they could blame Republicans for it's failure.

But why did the Republicans play along?

I am also hearing from Rush that the Dems added immigration legislation and that is the reason for the procedure. I don't know, but the Dems can pass this if they want.

Here's the deal pinheads, if you think republicans rejecting a spending bill like this is the end of the world, just wait until they retake power in Congress, and start REALLY making some cuts! There will be a LOT more "poor innocent victims of society" kicked to the proverbial curb, because we have to bring the deficit spending under control, and it ain't going to be FUN!

Those RINO's are going to be put out to pasture when their elections come up, they pretty much already know that, which is why you see them revealing their true colors now, and siding with Dems... wouldn't surprise me to see all of them switch parties like Specter did.

Yeah, I think you will see cuts, but be forewarned, this "poor 9/11 heroes" crap will be playing non-stop through it all, you better develop some thick skin. We're going to be accused of starving the elderly and school kids, kicking people out of their homes, poking blind people in the eye with sticks, and everything else! Budget reform will require us to drag every Democrat kicking and screaming, and what usually ends up happening is, they manage to tug enough idiot moderate heartstrings to derail the process, and maintain the spending and bloat. Hopefully, we can weed out the nitwit moderates before we get there.

Democrats are happy to piss away the taxpayers money, especially when it is not theirs.

A bill that would have provided up to $7.4 billion in aid to people sickened by World Trade Center dust fell short in the House on Thursday, raising the possibility that the bulk of compensation for the ill will come from a legal settlement hammered out in the federal courts.

Yes, the dems were morons on this bill. And they deserved to be slapped for it.

But this bill was specifically to pay for healthcare for the first responders of 9/11. You remember those folks? The ones who went IN while everyone else was running OUT?

So it ain't going to be fun? This is not about fun. This is about taking care of people (heros) who were made sick when they did their job.

This was a power grab and attempt to entrench nationalized health care by funding this fucked up bunch of garbage that would have probably never helped a goddamn soul who did their jobs on 9/11! I read the bill, it establishes all kinds of new government bureaucracies to do everything from research and study ways to spend MORE money on shit, and fund even more nonsensical liberal idiocy, to paying for everything but the silver platter for the grapes for anyone with any relationship to a person who did their job on 9/11! You know what, I am sorry. I hate that we can't just provide cradle to grave support for every whim of every individual in America, because I am sure most everyone has some awful thing that has happened in their lives which caused them discomfort, but we can't afford to do this anymore. But the bulk of the funding was headed to provide medical care for those who risked their lives to save others. It was not part of Obama's healthcare bullshit.

You are wrong on the need for the bill, claiming the Dems just dreamed it up as a political wedge, instead of being a response to the problems of many lawusits.

I am not so sure it should have passed. The 7.4 billion that webbway cited seems extreme but, of course, one has to question his source.

The Repbulcians told us over and over again that this attack WAS an act of war. In my opinion, it is obviously not a cost that should be borne by the municipal or state governments. You guys demand that we had to give billions in contracts to Halliburton and others, without question, for the invasion of Iraq, but then want to turn your back on these individuals.

It may well be the Dems trying to pay off the trial lawyers, but I really doubt this is some principled stand by the Republicans. Except for a handful of them, they don't have any principles.
