A black teenager has told police he punched a white man to the ground and robbed him because he was angry about the Trayvon Martin case.


Alton Hayes III said he smashed his 19-year-old victim to a Chicago suburb road after pinning his arms to the side and threatening him with a tree branch.


Alongside a 15-year-old black accomplice, who cannot be named as he is a juvenile, he screamed at the man to 'empty your pockets, white boy'.

A young couple in Brooklyn were beaten up Monday in what police are calling a racially-motivated attack.


30-year-old Ronald Russo and his wife Alanna, also 30, were stopped at the intersection of Avenue U and East 58 Street near Kings Plaza Shopping Center Monday when they had the green light.


Mr Russo couldn't go though because a group of teenagers were blocking his way, so he honked his horn.


The group of 10 black youths ranging in age from 12 to 18, including a 12-year-old girl, got agitated and started kicking his car.


Things got worse when Russo got out of his vehicle to survey the damage.


The kids turned their attention to Mr Russo, dragging him to the ground and began punching and kicking his head.


During the attack, the group reportedly shouted slurs at the couple including 'White motherf*****!'


According to court papers, some of them screamed: 'Get those crackers! Get that white whore!'


Mr Russo suffered a fractured nose, a broken septum, a blood clot and abrasions to his shoulder.


While calling 911, Mrs Russo was singled out by the 12-year-old girl who grabbed her by the hair and threw her on the ground. She suffered a black eye and was bleeding but refused medical attention.


Her husband was taken to Beth Israel Medical Center.


The group scattered after the attack but police arrested two teens in a Lowe's parking lot shortly after - Kashawn Kirton, 18, and Daehrell Finch, 17.


Police say they also arrested the 12-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy.


Kirton was charged with gang assault, harassment, and menacing charges - all as hate crimes. He was released on $50,000 bond and has no prior arrests.


Finch also faces gang assault, assault, menacing and harassment but they have not been labeled hate crime charges. Finch's prior record includes assault, theft of services and trespass charges and he is being held on Rikers Island.


Police are still looking for six more suspects in the case.

A man allegedly went on a rampage in Union Square on Wednesday afternoon that left a complete stranger critically hurt, reports CBS New York.


Jeffrey Babbitt, a 62-year-old retired train conductor, was walking through the crowd near tables set up with chess boards when the suspect in the attack - 31-year-old Lashawn Marten - shouted a racial comment before hitting Babbitt in the head.


"He said 'The next white person who walks by, I'm going to [expletive],'" one female witness told WCBS-TV. "His fist went in and the man's head bobbed and he hit the ground and you could hear his skull hitting the ground."


The man continued his rampage before demanding to see police officers.


"He stood there and hit two more people and asked for the police to come," Michael Benson said.


Marten, who is apparently homeless, was watching people play chess in the park and reportedly complained that nobody wanted to play chess with him prior to the attack, according to 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria.


Police are investigating the attack as a possible hate crime, according to NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly.


"Obviously our Hate Crimes Task Force is involved in aspects of that case," Kelly said.


Witnesses said they were amazed at the brazen, public nature of the assault.


Babbitt was taken to Bellevue Hospital. Family and friends said that he is in a coma and has been declared brain-dead, CBS New York reported.


His 92-year-old mother, Hedda, was by his side. She shared a Sheepshead Bay apartment with her son.


He was her primary caregiver.

A woman brutally beaten on a Pittsburgh street says race motivated her attackers.


Ginger Slepski, who is white, confronted four black teenagers on Sunday on the city’s north side after, she said, they threw a bottle at her car.


“I was mad,” Slepski told Pittsburgh’s Channel 11. “I knew they were younger. I thought they were in their early 20s. I got out and said, ‘What is your problem?’”


A beat-down followed, the station reported.


“They yelled, ‘Shut up white [expletive].’ The other said, ‘Get that white [expletive],’” Slepski said.


The girls yanked her to the pavement by her hair, punching and kicking her in the head, she said. She worried they would kill her.


“The one punched me in the head, and I was on a set of concrete steps and my head hit the concrete so hard,” Slepski said. “Then they all got on top of me, and all their hands were in my hair. They kept telling each other to ‘kick her in the head. Kick her head in the concrete.’”


The teens continued even as another woman warned them she was calling police. A man finally broke it up.


The girls — ages 14, 15 and 16 — were arrested and charged with robbery and ethnic intimidation.


“I do feel like it was very racially motivated, and I grew up in the neighborhood,” Slepski said.


She suffered numerous injuries, including torn shoulder ligaments, Slepski said. She hasn’t been able to return to her job as an electrician and said she worried about providing for her daughters.

Photography intern Israel Blizovsky had just finished taking pictures at a Crown Heights engagement party when a hulking teen he was passing on the sidewalk cold-cocked him without warning.


“He was very strong. I was in shock,” said the 19-year-old from Beersheva, Israel.


“I saw a large group of black teenagers coming. I moved to the side to let them pass. Then, all of a sudden, when I was passing right next to them, I felt a punch in the face. They just kept walking. They were all laughing,” he told The Post through a Hebrew translator. “They said something right after he punched me, but I don’t understand English. It looked like they were making fun of me.”

Dread about being singled out for attacks has taken root in Jewish communities in Brooklyn, according to Dov Hikind, a state assemblyman.


Two weeks ago, a 78-year-old woman reported being punched in the head, with her assailant fleeing without touching her shopping bags or her pocketbook.


This followed sporadic reports of similar recent attacks in Crown Heights, Hikind said, including one on a 19-year-old Hasidic man who said he had been approached by eight men and then punched in the face by one of them, in what the police said was a possible hate crime.


Then, on the border of Borough Park, a 24-year-old man found himself suddenly boxed in by three men and punched by a fourth. The victim overheard the group discussing “how you knock somebody out.” Amrit Marajh, 28, of Brooklyn, was charged with assault and with aggravated harassment as a hate crime.
