Was it all a big set up?

Seems like maybe A&E wasn't as shocked as they seemed by Phil Robertson' heartfelt, honest and truthful interview with GQ. It seems that there was an A&E rep present during the interview. Why didn't they try to stop it? Why did they let it go forward?

You see, A&E thought they would have a show making fun of red necks with money. They never thought they would have such a hit on their hands and that so many people would like it. They also didn't want Phil Robertson talking so openly about Christianity. I mean that could fuck up everything the secularists and atheists have been trying to do. But, the show turned into a hit and they knew they couldn't publicly tell him to stop with his Christianity because they would have faced an even bigger back lash. Queue the GQ interview. Phil is the patriarch of the family. They probably believed that if they get Phil in line they get the rest of the family in line. But, the didn't count on one thing. Phil Robertson is bossed by no man.

What some people don't know about Phil Robertson is that he was a stud quarterback at Louisiana Tech. In fact he was so good, he kept future Hall of Fame Quarterback Terry Bradshaw on the bench for two years. Phil even gave up a chance to play in the NFL because he wanted to hunt ducks.

In the end, the Duck Dynasty family doesn't need A&E.

And to be honest I don't think A&E needs them either. The days of worrying about ratings is long over. Networks don't care about ratings much anymore particularly on cable. Why? Because of bundled cable. You can boycott A&E or any other channel you don't like, but it isn't going to impact those channels because part of your monthly cable/satellite bill is going to pay for those networks. So you lefties thinking you are boycotting Fox News. You are kidding yourself if you think you are hurting Rupert Murdoch. If you have cable, he gets paid whether you watch or not. Same goes for the righties boycotting PMSNBC.

Where will this all end up? Well for sure Duck Dynasty will not be on A&E after the fifth season for sure. I don't see a scenario with the Duck Dynasty crowd moves forward without Phil. And I don't see a scenario where A&E backtracks. They fear the queer too much.

Will Duck Dynasty be picked up by another network trying to make a name for itself? We will see. One thing is for certain, there has definitely been a backlash agains the queer lobby. Which is a good thing. It is time they realized what a small minority they are and be put back in their place

I don't see this as a "backlash against the queer lobby", as much as a backlash against A&E and censorship of Christian beliefs.

Im certain it was a setup the only question is bywho and for what.
The duck boys were well off before the show since their duck call buainess was pretty darn successful. Whether or not Phil playing ball mattered kind of being the least of it.
I believe they were bored with the show and looking for a spashy exit with lot and lots of money as their happy ending. What better way is there than this ? Drudge was showing Walmart is sold out of duck merchandise. Thats a LOT of product flown off the racks.
The only result of all this was money. Lots and lots of money.
So more power to the guys, nothing wrong with making a buck.
