Wait for benefits is 3 years if health care passes

WASHINGTON – Sixty years is how long Democrats say they've been pushing for legislation that provides health care access for all Americans. They'll have to wait another three if President Barack Obama gets a bill to sign this year.

Under the Democratic bills, federal tax credits to help make health insurance affordable for millions of low- and middle-income households won't start flowing until 2013 — after the next presidential election. But Medicare cuts and a sizable chunk of the tax increases to pay for the overhaul kick in immediately.

It's because they need to build the bureaucracies to support 45 million people. And they need to build them well enough to work efficiently.

They wouldn't have to if they just expanded Medicare, but they're not going to do that.

Deception once again and you know it. From the start the legislation has been planned to begin after preparing the proper agencies to commence operation of a new system in an efficient manner. The GOP would never vote for a bill commencing operations tomorrow which has been one of the considerations. May I ask where you took your cue for this one? It has been the case since the first bill was proposed, was it a surprise to you?

wtf is your problem....i had heard about it, but i also heard from various people that it wasn't true...

what deception am i guilty of?

if it so important waiting 3 years, regardless of needing the bureaucracies because i think 4 years is a long time, is stupid...and how convenient that it starts after the next election...and since the dems have 60 seats...you don't need the gop so you can't stop blaming anyone but dems any day now....why not expand medicare and get people insurance...people are DYING you claim but waiting FOUR YEARS is no big deal....and then yoiu stupidly blame the gop...

I have said since the beginning of discussion that Medicare and/or the Government Employees' plan is the answer, but the wait has always been there in the alternatives which, from the start, are the only plans with the possibility of passage once the corporate/GOP media blitz began.
