You are right there was discrimination against Favia but it wasn’t race. It was height. He is 5’10” and since Doug Flutie, the NFL fas shied away from short QBs.

I know people cried racism about Sanders but I believe his slide was because of his high profile HOF dad.

Also Favias antics after the Heisman ceremony didn’t help. He was a great feel good story, but in a year of underwhelming college QBs, he had very limited upside as a pro.

Can you imagine if Pavia was Hispanic... Oh wait he is.

I can explain all of this to you, with exception of what the Heisman voters are doing.

Different levels of football players are very different sizes. Professional football players are much bigger than college football players, who in turn are much bigger than high school football players. There are many people who are great high school football players, but are way too small for college football. It would be dangerous to even let them play.

Sanders is on the light side. He is of a reasonable height, so could put on the mass, but no one wanted to waste of a first pick on someone who might put on the mass. Pavia was short for a college football player, and downright tiny for a professional player. He will not get taller.

Sanders had the highest and most completions in college football. Completions is the main job of a quarterback. I am not saying he should have won the Heisman Trophy, but his excellence among his peers meant he should have at least been considered.
