Vance/Rubio 2028

I have been discussing with @gfm7175 the 2028 Republican nominee for President. I imagined it coming down to Vance vs. Rubio, and we discussed the merits of each along with the vulnerabilities. My personal view was that Vance is currently "edging out" Rubio by a nose, but that the race is apparently in full swing, neck-and-neck.

Not anymore. I have come to the inescapable conclusion that the Vance/Rubio 2028 ticket is in the forming. Both Vance and Rubio are being deliberately placed in front of cameras acting as President pro Tempore on a regular basis. Any President who is seeking reelection will seize every such opportunity to build popularity, however Trump won't be running again (despite the insistence to the contrary by humorless leftists who never know when they are being trolled) and has already emphasized his support for both Vance and Rubio. Now we see Vance and Rubio both in front of the cameras when Trump would normally be there.

I also wish to acknowledge that there will nonetheless probably be individual campaigns with perhaps "debates" between the two, but if there are, it seems likely that they will miraculously gel into a celebratory accord whereby Vance and Rubio unite to form the 2028 Republican ticket.

It's my 2¢.

I am officially doubling down on my prediction that Vance will win the Presidency in 2028.

He compared Trump to Hitler.

BTW, when you say you've been discussing this with @gfm7175, you mean one of your alter egos?

Vance/Rubio 2028, Vance/Rubio 2028 ticket, Vance/Rubio 2028 ticket!

Their greatest asset is that they are not far left Democratic/Socialist/Communist loons.

I agree with your prediction of Vance winning (and ultimately a Vance/Rubio ticket). I personally suspect that Donald Trump would like to see, and that he would endorse, a Vance/Rubio ticket (and a general "teaming up" of sorts). I do wonder where Tulsi Gabbard would fit into all of this. I REALLY like her a lot and would love for her to remain involved (maybe continuing her post as ODNI?). I also have a "trigger the libtards" fantasy of Vance making Trump his "trade czar".

Like you said, we've discussed some of the merits and vulnerabilities of both Vance and Rubio (which ties into their histories). As of today, I'd cast my vote for either of them for President.

The "wholly owned subsidiary of the Democrat Party" (the RNC) will of course add their preferred candidate into the mix as well (DeSantis? someone else?) ... They will want "Team Rubio" and "Team Vance" to be at arms with each other, splitting the MAGA vote so that their candidate wins the primaries. That's why I suspect that Trump will proactively want Vance and Rubio [and their supporters] to be "on the same side" against whoever the RINO candidate is).

Not to derail your thread but speaking of predictions, you've been putting on a clinic in that other thread.

I thought the same thing, i.e. someone who would handle tariffs and trade negotiations, while working closely with the Secretary of State.

I do wonder where Tulsi Gabbard would fit into all of this. I REALLY like her a lot and would love for her to remain involved (maybe continuing her post as ODNI?).
Won't she be taking on the Secretary of State role?

We'll have to see if there isn't some sort of shift in the RNC. Maybe they can break free, especially now that the Democrats are imploding and appear extremely weak.

At the moment, Vance and Rubio seem to be on the same team.

You have a point. Are there even any RINO candidates emerging?

Precisely!
Won't she be taking on the Secretary of State role?
That would indeed be fitting. I think she'd make a good Secretary of State. Admittedly, Rubio would be a tough act to follow; he's done a fantastic job in that role.

I sure hope so.

Seems that way to me too. I hope it remains.

Not that I can tell. Atm, I think that they're going to try a DeSantis "re-launch". If I were in their shoes, I wouldn't even consider that option (without being able to fracture the anti-RINO vote enough) because he was DOA the first time around.

I'm here through Thursday.
I’ve been on this board for a couple of decades and I haven’t seen too many threads like that. It was never about investing. The premise was political from the start. He started it in April to show that Trump would tank the market, and it got him plenty of likes at the time.

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen someone get crushed that badly. Watching him month after month lose, rationalize, and redefine everything has been straight out of a psychiatrist’s case study.

@gfm7175 and I spent over a year trying in vain to talk some sense into a guy (Xadoman) who was doing the same thing with crypto, repeatedly. The excuses and the rationalizations are always the same from those with an addiction.

"I can quit anytime, but why would I? I'm always just a bit ahead of breaking even."

"OK, OK, the next time I'll make sure to do it the right way, and THEN I'll get out with my winnings."

"I was totally correct despite having lost it all; I just didn't time it right, that's all."
