US unemployment rises. Again.

Of course this does not include the 18% of underemployed

As Krauthammer says-"We just engaged in a huge Keynesian experiment on the economy and it failed."

The latest report from the Depart of Labor was issued today, and it was fairly disastrous for the American public. Unemployment, yet again, is on the rise in the US.

Previously analysts had previously predicted to Bloomberg News that 105,000 jobs would be created last month; the actual number fell alarmingly shy by over 90,000, however. The newest statistic from the Labor Department put unemployment at 9.2 percent for the month of June, a 0.1 percent raise from May’s figures. While that month saw 25,000 new jobs introduced in the country, only 18,000 were added in June.

You should be happy. Governments continued to shed jobs, just like you want, largely offsetting private sector gains. This is the "recovery" that you support.

I absolutely support cuts in the public sector; local; state; and federal. I also support a fair tax and the closure of corporate tax loopholes. The downward trend of job loss being experienced, by the public sector, further shows Obama's economic bag of tricks has not worked. If it had, local; state; and federal budgets would be able to protect positions. Instead the public sector is merely reflecting what already has been experienced in the private sector...it's called catch up time.

US unemployment rises. Again

Gee,,,,, I wonder why.

Anyone got any ideas why this is going on?

These jobs should have been shed three years ago when the economy went south. Most of that money borrowed or printed that was your 'economic stimulus' simply went to hire new federal employees and prop-up jobs for state and local governments. Since these jobs don't create wealth the economy didn't really recover, and now we are seeing the second phase of the "double dip" recession that conservative economists predicted.

Well.... If you listen to the pinheads, they say it's because businesses fear we won't raise the debt ceiling... and the stimulus wasn't big enough. :dunno:
Like all failed liberal schemes, the excuse is always because the program was not 'fully funded'.

Obama's unfavorable s are going to rise after this report... I hope that congressional republican's don't waffle on spending cuts. With this latest news they have the impetus once again to be bold.

Following yesterday’s disappointing jobs report, consumer confidence has fallen to the lowest level in nearly two years.

The Rasmussen Consumer Index, which measures the economic confidence of consumers on a daily basis, fell two-and-a-half points on Saturday to 68.6. That’s the lowest level of confidence measured since July 24, 2009. Consumer confidence is down two points from a week ago, six points from a month ago and eight points from three months ago.

Just 6% of consumers rate the economy as good or excellent while 60% say it’s in poor shape. Only 22% believe it’s getting better while 59% think it’s getting worse.

here

#8 The United States has lost approximately 42,400 factories since 2001. Approximately 75 percent of those factories employed at least 500 workers while they were still in operation.

#9 The United States has lost a staggering 32 percent of its manufacturing jobs since the year 2000.

#10 Manufacturing employment in the U.S. computer industry is actually lower in 2010 than it was in 1975.

30 yrs of conservative 'free market' ideology has driven this country to the brink of disaster.
Your 'socialism' fears are based on the corporate propaganda that is responsible for your stupidity.

Once again, Liability outdoes himself by proving his utter ignorance of American history.

An income tax amendment to the Constitution was first proposed by Senator Norris Brown of Nebraska. He submitted two proposals, Senate Resolutions Nos. 25 and 39. The amendment proposal finally accepted was Senate Joint Resolution No. 40, introduced by Senator Nelson W. Aldrich of Rhode Island, the Senate majority leader and Finance Committee Chairman...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sixteenth_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution

Note, retarded Liability, that Senators Brown and Aldrich were both Republicans . The 61st Congress was dominated by Republican majorities in both houses. The President at the time was William Howard Taft, another Republican.

To raise revenue to fund the Civil War, Congress introduced the income tax through the Revenue Act of 1861.[7] It levied a flat tax of 3% on annual income above $800, which was equivalent to $19,490 in today's money.[8] This act was replaced the following year with the Revenue Act of 1862, which levied a graduated tax of 3–5% on income above $600 (worth $13,156 today[8]) and specified a termination of income taxation in 1866.
The Socialist Labor Party advocated a graduated income tax in 1887.[9] The Populist Party "demand[ed] a graduated income tax" in its 1892 platform.[10] The Democratic Party, led by William Jennings Bryan, advocated the income tax law passed in 1894,[11] and proposed an income tax in its 1908 platform.[12]
Prior to the Supreme Court's decision in Pollock v. Farmers' Loan & Trust Co., all income taxes had been considered to be indirect taxes and so were required to be imposed with geographical uniformity; as opposed to being direct taxes, which are required to be apportioned among the states according to population.

In 1894, Democrats in Congress passed the Wilson-Gorman tariff, which imposed the first peacetime income tax. The rate was 2% on income over $4000, which meant fewer than 10% of households would pay any.
Try again.

So you know how to google....big fuckin' deal....

He made no mention of Brown or Aldrich so he couldn't possibly be wrong about something he didn't say....he did get the wrong President....I think Taft was in office, not Wilson....no big deal about his getting history wrong......Obama thinks there are 57 states....

Nothing changes the fact that

Awesome.

He was totally wrong in stating that "Wilson, a Dem, did" the 16th Amendment, and it's "no big deal about his getting history wrong"?

No wonder you love Failin' Palin and the Bach-to-Mom.

They have the same disdain for facts while they spout fictitious bullshit about American history.
