Wow, total stealth mode and stuff. I mean, when you want to keep a secret it is best broadcasted over the interwebs...

"We don't want them detected, so we tell everybody we are doing it!"

how did this get leaked?

My guess is somebody wanted Obama to seem like he was taking positive steps to secure America. Whatever the reason those people are now if far more danger than they have ever been had it remained actually secret.

yeah...unless this got official approval, they should find the leak and prosecute.

If you are going to launch secretive missions that are, if discovered, basically acts of war on another country, at least don't go blabbering about it. God, what idiots.

At least wait until the troops make it back out, that's the sort of thing that missions get blown(and our guys get killed) over when it goes bad.

There was a big kerfuffle about this and it appears to stem from some unclear language by the Brigadier General which led a reporter to believe that he meant we were sending folks in presently when he really meant that we would send folks in for this type of recon if there was actually a war.

So, basically, it's what you would expect if (1) they were actually sending recon folks into North Korea or (2) they weren't sending recon folks into North Korea.

I still think it's Obama trying to look like a big shot. I have no evidence of this. Basically when military secrets got leaked during the Bush years I blamed the liberals in the military and the media for trying to make Bush look bad. When military secrets get leaked now, I blame Obama because he got it leaked to make himself look cool.

That's just how I feel.

cite?

There are always strategic and/or tactical reasons for the release of information of this sort from the MILITARY. Any attempt at reasoning why is only speculation at the very best. Some of you folks are just so eager to spank President Barack Hussein Obama for something, anything that you fail to use your idiotic heads for anything much beyond a hat rack. You look silly when you do that.

It wouldn't surprise me if they were sending some sort of spies on intel missions in the tunnels. The claim that they were sending "commandos" on paratrooper missions into NK did seem surreal and unbelievable, though - why on Earth would you be sending military units which would stand out like a sore thumb and look much more aggressive than mere spies? And how on Earth did NK miss the fucking planes you've got flying around in their airspace? And what American general would willingly divulge such information? This definitely makes more sense as some hypothetical war scenario. This is really, really shitty journalism.
