I thought I thought the only person he shot was an insurrectionist in the course of committing a felony. One that was at the head of a bloodthirsty mob trying to climb through a broken window to get at the congressmen on the other side while officers pointed their weapons and said quite clearly "stop or we will shoot you".

Yes, Michael Byrd was holding his service weapon when he repeatedly told Ashli Babbitt to stop as she attempted to break into the House chamber during the Capitol riot. He fired the gun only after she ignored his commands and continued to advance.
