I'm the same way. While in this moment, and I'm being serious, try and imagine that there are many who the government "helps" with various social programs who will be robbed of the positive feeling people naturally get when they do do something and work hard for their success.
Taking responsibility for yourself and working hard are not just things that Conservatives believe in but things that genuinely make people feel good about themselves. I think being challenged in life makes you feel alive.
