UNGA vote on Palestinian Statehood recognition

PLO: Vote against Palestine at UN will signal that only armed struggle works

Would that be the PLO which Arafat led to armed struggle in order to achieve the recognition of a Palestinian State at the United Nations ?

The proposal, which is due to be put to the vote in the General Assembly later this month, would implicitly recognize Palestinian statehood and could also grant access to bodies such as the International Criminal Court in The Hague, where the Palestinians could file complaints against Israel.

Is it a fact that well over 80% of the world's represented peoples support Palestinian Statehood ?

The United States has warned European governments against supporting a Palestinian bid for enhanced status at the United Nations, saying such a move "would be extremely counterproductive" and threatening "significant negative consequences" for the Palestinian Authority, including financial sanctions.

Is that the United States which has just been preaching justice and democracy to the Burmese ?

Given the Israeli leadership under the Likud party Palestine has more support than Israel now it seems. The Likud are the neocons...much wrong there. I hope they're able to come to an equitable agreement and Israel stops occupying them. It would help if American Zionist Christians would stop supporting the illegal settler movement as well.

Palestinian access to the international courts will signal the end of illegal US support to Israeli illegalities.

I highly doubt anything the UN does will change the positions that the US takes on Israel-Palestine. That said, we may slowly change our policy based upon growing public support for a legitimate Palestinian state, and growing dissatisfaction for Israeli policy in the West Bank and Gaza.

It will take time before Israel's financial control over Washington and the US media is loosened. Ordinary Americans will have noted how highly the Israeli profile featured in the recent presidential elections and they will start to resent, more strongly, the involvement of a foreign power in their domestic affairs. That's when things will change- when Israel becomes a vote loser, not a winner. International opposition to US support for political Zionism will also assist the change;

France to recognize Palestinian state at UN
Bid by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas seems certain to win approval in any vote in the 193-nation assembly.

Anyway, tomorrow is a bad day for Israel. The vote will be crushing.

Yeah, it will look like every other time in history that the Europeans took issue with the Jews, with one minor exception. I don't think the Jews will be very frightened this time...

So then, that's the end of the Zionist dream. There will never be a ' Greater Israel' The concept has been dismissed under the rule of international law. Palestine exists, in Western legal terms.

Israel's continued ethnic cleansing program was supported by just nine countries, some of which you won't ever have heard of;

Israel
USA
Canada
Czech Republic
Panama
Palau
Nauru
Micronesia
Marshall Islands

These countries deserve the shame they have brought upon themselves.
