unemployment plunges

I think you mean unemployment claims plunged Desh. The unemployment rate, which is what people usually refer to when saying unemployment, remained the same at 7.3%.

It's a really good report

Not bad to be sure... but given it is the holiday season, it should be taken with a grain of salt. The key will be if we see a decline in the unemployment rate early next year. Transportation is doing well as a sector and looks to be building momentum. That is usually a leading indicator for the market on the whole. Obviously the Fed bond buying program will come in focus again next year as Yellen takes over. Will she decrease? If so, how much and how fast? If transportation sector continues to stay strong through the first quarter, she may be able to finally rid the addicts on Wall St of their drug. That would be a major plus for the economy. No more false props

Unemployment didn't 'plunge' at all.....new unemployment CLAIMS went down.....and when everyone that is unemployed is signed up, the new claims will be zero...

and poor desh things this is an improvement....she really is that stupid.

the unemployment rate remains high at 7.3 percent. That's well above the 5 percent to 6 percent unemployment rate consistent with healthier job markets.
Just for the sake of trivia, President Bush averaged 5.2 % over his entire 2 terms....sadly, the Dems. took over congress in his last 2 years. Same pres. and different
congress changed things dramatically....

It is actually quite simple:

In January of 2009, at the peak of the recession, there were 80,507,000 Americans Not in the Labor Force as defined by the Bureau of Labor Statistics; as of the end of October of 2013, there were 91,541,000 Americans Not in Labor Force as defined by the Bureau of Labor Statistics: there are 11,034,000 more Americans Not in the Labor Force.
