Arizona mother arrested after she tells police she's "sick of her children"

PHOENIX (Associated Press) --
Arizona police officers arrested a mother after she reportedly told police she didn't want her children any longer.

Police in the Phoenix suburb of Surprise say they received a 911 call Friday from an 11-year-old boy who said his mother was packing and moving to California and wasn't taking him or his 6-year-old brother with her.

Police spokesman Sgt. Mark Ortega said the boy's mother, Christina Muniz (MYOO'-neez), 29, came out and told officers that she was "sick of her children" and wanted the police to take them so she can "have fun and play."

Officers said they then contacted Child Protective Services.

Police said Muniz continued to be verbally abusive to the children in the presence of CPS and police.

As the children were being removed by CPS, officers said the 11-year-old attempted to hug his mother, and was met with a punch to the abdomen.

Muniz was arrested and charged with child neglect, felony aggravated assault, disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia.

During a court appearance Monday, a magistrate said it was heartbreaking to read the police report.

Muniz, dressed in her black and white-striped jail garb, told the magistrate it "was a big misunderstanding, miscommunication."

Muniz was then scolded by the magistrate who said she doubted it was a misunderstanding and that Muniz said a lot of things in front of her children. She urged Muniz to get counseling.

Bond was set at $20,000 and Muniz was ordered not to have any contact with her children unless it's supervised by the state.

A self absorbed narcisist to be sure...her kids will forever be scarred by the cruelty of her words...heart breaking!

Hopefully they will be able to transfer their need for a Parental Mother to a caring and loving person, who will help them through this and make sure that they grow up to be loving parentss themselves.

Maybe this semblance of a woman will stumble and fall into the path of a bus.

typical liberal. just wanting to run off and forget her responsibilities, leaving them to society.

I hope the kids can get through this.

But aren't you going to blame the Police for allowing the mother to punch her child??

I mean, what business do they have in allowing this young boy the opportunity to hug his mother good-bye??

Arizona will pay for counseling and she'll get her kids back to abuse some more is more likely~~~

I see where you're going with this :good4u:

they should be held accountable for allowing those kids to even be near her vicinity after she started in with her rants against them. They failed to protect the children from an abusive mother, even after they knew she was a danger to them.

It wouldn't surprise me, one little bit.
In all my years of working with kids, I've got stories that would make any sensible person sick.

One that I can tell, is when I was coachig Pop-Warner football.

There was a kid, around 12 or 13, who didn't have rides to the away games and never had money to buy anything to eat, after the games.
So I started letting him ride with me, my son, my daughter, my nephew, and a couple of other kids that needed a ride.
He was always a little late and so one time I told him that I would pick him up at his place and then we would go down to our field; because everyone was going to caravan to the game.

So I get his place, I knock, and he opens the door.
He's getting his equipment together and his mom walks out of another room (she was helping him get his stuff) and she's got her robe wide open, with nothing on underneath.
Not only is she walking like this in front of him; but she's doing it in front of me and SHE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW ME.

I ended up also paying for his post game meal, after every game.

Other board members wanted to write this kid off, as a problem; but I said I would work with him and he turned out to be one of my better players.

I've lost track of him, over all these years; but I hope he turned out OK.

I've got more; but it pains me to go back over them all.

I knew you had it in you.
Being verbally abusive does not always mean physically abusive; but of course, you're right.
How dare they let an 11 year old kid, try to hug his mother good-bye.
What uncaring and heartless beasts they are.
When are you going to start the petition to have them fired and for the mother and kids to sue the Department?? :good4u:

they should have arrested the kid for trying to hug the bitch, but i guess their training wasn't up to snuff so i'll blame that on the chief.

the mother should sue for failing to restrain the brat, instead letting him force himself upon her when she obviously did not want to be assaulted, but see police are not legally obligated to protect an individual not in custody, unless they are tasing him when he's handcuffed or strapped to a cell bench, so the courts will dismiss any charges anyway.

DTS's momma didn't love him, so he grew up to be a brave interweb Cop Killer!

The mental heath and human services agencies live in a nightmare of sick, but part of the trouble Free is that their agencies own bureaucracy more often than not compounds the abuse with the wrongheaded psycho-babble of putting kids back with bad parents or not putting kids back with good parents...basically being "code" focused and not common sense focused.

Welfare payments are bad incentives for having kids, but not an uncommon one for young women to rationalize. When non discretionary premarital sex, drugs, welfare checks for being a single parent, and abortion on demand all colluded it served to undermine the value of family, life and integrity…and worse, kids lost. They are often either killed with the same thinking that goes into that of taking a crap while they are in the womb or they are born to mothers who want a paycheck they have not earned.

The mores of modern society, or more accurately lack thereof, serve to embattle the family not encourage it. Is it any wonder our society is so derelict; our kids either angry or apathetic?

There you go. :good4u:
I knew you could bring out how you truly feel.

You're one to talk about psycho-babble bullshit. Jesus. You really were slinging poo in that post.

now that we have the hateful banter out of the way.....

I really feel for the kids. they were seriously wronged and hopefully not irreparably damaged by a worthless individual known as their mother.

OH, COME ON!!

You know you really want to find fault with those Officers; because no one in the public ever causes a problem.
