U.S. Opposes Settlement Expansion, Annexation, Blinken Says in Jerusalem
'All sides must take steps to prevent further escalation' following surging violence, says Secretary of State Blinken, adding that members of his team will stay on in the region to promote 'practical steps' toward peace
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the United States opposes any moves that run counter to efforts for a two-state solution, including settlement expansion, moves towards annexation, demolitions and evictions, and changes to the status quo at holy sites, in a press conference summing up his two-day visit to Israel and the West Bank on Tuesday.

OK- so the Democrats are now the party of law and Middle East peace and the Trumpists are the party of crime and Middle East war.
That's an easy split with no complications. Americans vote for one or the other- provided that the Middle East can be made a MAJOR issue for 2024. That's the next step for every Democrat that wants to win in 2024- because people are, essentially, law-abiding and peace-loving. Democrats should now get fully behind this newly-announced policy and make it a MAJOR issue in US politics.
NO MORE 'ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM'
It follows that Biden must now put his Benjamins where his teeth used to be. The current , fascist, Israeli government must be halted in its rush to war and further international crime. This is a simple task using US power in the UN and Blinken's words will be judged by what ACTION is now taken.
It follows that Republicans who do not want to be the party of war and crime in the Middle East - that means all SANE Republicans- should shun both by opposing the policies of the current, extremist, Israeli government. The next election should be fought, not between parties vying for who LOVES Israel the most but between parties which OPPOSE Israeli fascism the strongest.
Who knows, America might even yet get its collective head out of its ass.
