Turkey won’t sanction Russia, despite NATO pressure – reports

The military bloc’s secretary general said earlier he expected Ankara to impose punitive measures on Moscow


Turkey is not going to impose sanctions on Russia, but will instead work to maintain dialogue with the Kremlin, Turkey’s TRT Haber TV channel reported on Friday, citing Ibrahim Kalin, a spokesperson for President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The official clarified that Ankara had no plans to “impose sanctions on Russia,” adding that the Turkish government was eager to “keep the channel of trust open.” Kalin also pointed out that Turkey would want to avoid any negative repercussions for its own economy as a result of punitive measures.

We dont serve anyone, we have a political agenda that is entirely in our own interests. We wont do anything against Russia because the USA wants it or wont do just the opposite.
We are going to do what is right for us. The era of puppet governments in Turkiye is over, they are trying hard to revive it but we will do our best not to let it happen. NATO is the US's tool to keep other countries under control. NATO countries are of no importance to the US, other than to push forward on the front line as a mine donkeys, as Ukraine in the last example.
