Why Tucker Swanson McNear Carlson was unceremoniously dumped

If you're the Murdochs, it is easy to say how holding on to Carlson comes with more much more risk than reward.

Carlson is not a team player, and in fact is uncontrollable. He carries legal baggage, and the Murdochs are trying to put an end to the legal disputes they find themselves in. He regularly births negative news cycles about the network that tarnish the brand, and Fox News is desperate to emerge from the cloud of negative press it has been the subject of. Meanwhile, mainstream advertisers have stayed far away from Carlson's show, which is far too toxic to associate with.

The Murdochs also have plenty of evidence to support the bet that Fox News is bigger than any single person. Just look at Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, Megyn Kelly, and others who have exited the network. None of them have bigger platforms today than they did when they were on Fox News. They all have a less powerful megaphone than the one they carried when employed by the Murdochs.

Meanwhile, the network itself has endured.

After this event, I wonder how the Trumpies are going to sustain their augment that the election was stolen from Trump?????????????

For quite sometime Fox News found that demagoguery (telling their audience what they wanted to here, and not reality) was very lucrative, but they went over board, and now they have to pay the consequences, and this will come at a very steep price. And now Fox is stuck with having to repair the damage, and their number one mouth piece has become a sacrificial lamb.

Maybe Fox calculated that Tucker was costing them more money than he was making them.

No one even talks about Glenn Beck or Bill O'Reilly anymore, so Fox will undoubtedly survive without Tucker Swanson McNear Carlson.

I share your view, and now, I just hope that Fox will change their ways, and become a more mainstream news organization.

It appears more will be coming out about Carlson in the defamation suit filed by Abby Grossman. Carlson is going to become far more toxic.

The guy has to be a nightmare employee, for putting so many legal targets on the backs of the Murdoch empire

They allowed it, just like Trump and the Republicans. They think they can control these types and they can’t. It ends up hurting them.
 
He is a big part of Dominion and Smartmatic lawsuits. When you cost your company a couple of billion dollars, it diminishes your value. His on-air constant lying was good when it made money, and bad when it lost. There is no longer profit in having a guy whose entire shtick is lying on TV.

His coverage of 2020 election conspiracy theories was part of Dominion Voting Systems’ lawsuit against Fox, which the network settled last week. Carlson had also privately denigrated Fox executives, saying they had cost the network credibility by allowing it to call President Biden’s election victory, as The Washington Post reported.

And a former producer recently accused Carlson in a lawsuit of overseeing a misogynistic and discriminatory workplace. Fox has disputed her claims.

Well, if they cared about their credibility, which to all accounts they do not -- unless it costs them millions.

Not likely. FOX created a MAGA audience that wants a regular evening ration of red meat. If FOX stops feeding it to them they will find it someplace else.
