Trump's "gold" in Oval Office appears to be from Home Depot

No, but I know tacky and grotesque when I see it.

I shudder when I think of how COLD that seat must be.

Here in Idaho, for anybody else, Trump’s gold fetish would be ridiculed. But, we’re full of brainless MAGAT fucktards, so they accept that along with an entire laundry list of “look-the-other-ways”.
There are no guys I know of who have a fetish for golden gilding, gold trimming, golden figurines.

Trump's "gold" in Oval Office appears to be from Home Depot

This is what Democrats waste time thinking about?

Gilt (gold leaf or gold-colored) accents have been a favorite among powerful and stylish figures throughout history, symbolizing wealth, divinity, and prestige. Here are some standout examples, with evidence from art, architecture, and records:
  • Tutankhamun (c. 1332–1323 BCE): The Egyptian pharaoh's famous gold mask and throne are lavishly covered in gold leaf. His tomb artifacts, discovered in 1922, include gilt furniture, chariots, and shrines—over 5,000 items, many with heavy gilding to evoke eternal royalty and the sun god Ra.
  • Qin Shi Huang (259–210 BCE): China's first emperor had his Terracotta Army warriors originally painted with gilt details on armor and weapons (traces remain visible under modern analysis). His mausoleum complex reportedly featured gilt bronze chariots and mercury rivers mimicking gold.
Renaissance & Baroque Patrons
  • Louis XIV of France (1638–1715): The "Sun King" obsessed over Versailles, where the Hall of Mirrors boasts gilt stucco frames, chandeliers, and furniture. His personal items, like gilt-bronze mounted porcelain, reflected his motto Nec pluribus impar ("Not unequal to many"). Court records show he spent fortunes on gilding to outshine rivals.
  • Catherine the Great (1729–1796): The Russian empress filled the Winter Palace and Catherine Palace with gilt interiors—think the Amber Room (originally Prussian but gifted to her, walls paneled in gold-leafed amber). Her correspondence reveals she commissioned gilt accents on everything from snuffboxes to sleighs.
Later Figures
  • Napoleon Bonaparte (1769–1821): As Emperor, he revived Empire style with abundant gilding. His throne at Fontainebleau and the gilt bees on his coronation robe (symbolizing immortality) are iconic. Inventory lists from Malmaison show gilt bronze on clocks, candelabra, and even bedframes.
  • Queen Victoria (1819–1901): Though more restrained, she adored gilt in Buckingham Palace renovations and the Albert Memorial (a Gothic shrine to her husband, dripping in gold leaf). Her diaries note gilt picture frames and jewelry as favorites.
Gilt's appeal? It's durable, reflective, and screams opulence—archaeological and archival evidence (e.g., from Pompeii's gilt frescoes to Versailles' bills) confirms it was a status flex across eras

It's really funny to watch MAGA posters bend themselves into pretzels to try claiming this is all very elegant, in good taste, and perfectly normal.
These sad fucks are continually doing all sorts of mental gymnastics to rationalize Trump’s behavior. The cognitive dissonance must be overwhelming.

Trump is the only "Old Money" guy that still acts like what rich folks expect of "New Money People" that I know in such a public position.
trump is in-between being old money and nouveau riche. his grandparents and mother were all born poor. his father was his first ancestor to be born wealthy, and even he was not born established wealthy. his father was born a wealthy new immigrant.

No ostentatious gold gilding, no tacky golden trimmings, no gaudy gold figurines and moldings at Obama's house.
