There was nothing particularly historic about the East Wing. They actually built it to cover up the construction of a bomb shelter. The people's business will be conducted in our new Ballroom. It is being built to impress foreign dignitaries. It is hard to impress other dignitaries while you feed them in a tent and ask them to relieve themselves in a Porta Pottie. The most powerful country in the world needs a proper place to send the subliminal message of power and wealth to the rest of the world.
