The UK economy is shrinking at an alarming rate. These are all very bad numbers.
The thing of it is, we do live in a global economy. Sure you have your America Firsters making up a huge portion of the right wing, and you have your puritopians on the left who don't understand shit from shinola about creating a job or frankly, even having a job.
You can't run an anti-globalization economy without destroying yourself. I think there's a very big difference between the right and the pro-trade left in how to best ameliorate the effects of globalization on your older workers. In that, the right's plan is "Die young" and the left supports job retraining and a strong and generous social safety net.
But there's no real argument that we can or should go back.
And then there was Trump.
And ain't all the stupid people on his side, and ain't that a majority in any town? Well, yes, if you only count white people.
