"Trump University" court trial due to begin before December

Reports indicate the judge wants the issue settled out of court.
I imagine that may be the way it goes.

BUT !!

If Trump is as much of a piker as he's reputed to be, it could snarl the "smooth transition of power".
The plaintiffs have Trump over a barrel on this one.

Usually as part of such out of court settlements, the amount of the $settlement is kept confidential.

What do you think will happen, and when?

And what about the other trials Trump is scheduled for?

If it's settled out of court, where will the $money come from? Trump's bank account, or some Trump "charity"?

I think Trump is over a barrel here.

I suspect whatever Trump may have $netted, should be the starting line for negotiating a settlement.
Not what ONE student paid. What they ALL paid.

If the penalty for bank robbery was you have to pay the stolen money back; bank robbery would be a popular national pastime.

There MUST be a penalty, in addition.
If Trump made $2 $Million with this particular scam, it should cost him at least $20 $Million in inflation-adjusted $dollars.

Ah, yes - the scandal where poor & working people actually got hurt.

Good. The smart money is definitely on Trump getting impeached at some point.

Their will be a confidential settlement sometime before December. Trump will pay through the nose for that one.

plenty of Capital baggage?

im reading its 20m. That seems like peanuts for trump and each plaintiff might even get 10k or less after everything is said and done.

edit: 25m according to ag.

I hope Curiel gets him with contempt of court.

JUDGE: Mr. Trump, I'm going to have to ask you again...
TRUMP: Shut up, you dirty Mexican!
JUDGE: One more outburst like that, Mr. Trump, and I'll find you in contempt.
TRUMP: We're gonna build the wall, Gonzalo, and it's going to be beautiful!
JUDGE: Bailiff, take the President-Elect into custody. Bail is set at $5000.

If only...

I guess Trump took his lumps and saved us all the distractions. It really does suggest that at least he takes the job serious and wants to do a good job. If he was the supreme narcissist that I thought he was, he would never do this. I think it shows that Donald put country first.

Now remember, I was no fan of Trump, but I'll be damned, he sure did the right thing here as far as saving us all the media circus a trial would prompted.

my read is that the people filing against him either a) kept it alive for the election or b) didnt want to go up against trump anymore.

How do I get to this conclusion? The amount. If it was done on the trump end you would see this settled for 100's of millions as they would want to end it at any cost. If this was done on the plaintiffs end you get this pathetic amount.

Jarod can probably validate the next set of figures I give.

We have 25m amongst 3 lawsuits. 4m goes to the state of new york for one of the 3 suits. The lawyers will not be taking their customary 33% instead doing it pro bono. BUT they claim expenses which is standard. Lets put that at 1m.

Best I can tell there are 6000++ plaintiffs. 20m / 6000 is 3333 per plaintiff. Thats next to nothing.

I consider 25 million to be a lot of money and I would happily take it :D but in the world that Trump and his businesses operate in that is the peanuts you throw to nuisance suits.

They went to Trump university... They weren't very wise in their choice to begin with. Trump is a very shady businessman, no doubt about it. Trumps lawyers earn their keep. $3333? How much was their cost to attend such a prestigious institute? I am guessing it couldn't have more than 10 grand. Here comes the google. Wiki(didn't actually go to the link, cut and pasted from the google page)At the introductory seminar, students were urged to sign up for additional classes, ranging from $1495 seminars to a $35,000 "Gold Elite" program.

LOL

OK, that could mean the average Trump student paid somewhere around 10 to 15 grand. Who knows? What's your guess?
