Trump began a solemn Memorial Day railing against North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper, a Democrat, ahead of the 2020 Republican National Convention, threatening to pull it out of Charlotte, where the convention is expected to be held August 24 to 27.

Republicans are in real trouble here, because their rules require everyone to be in the arena. The Democrats allow voting with people only partially in the arena. Worse yet, there are Republicans who will contest any attempt to have social distancing.

trump is going to try to do something like that. The issue is that any delegate not in the same room when a vote is taken is considered to have voted against whatever is being voted on. That means the Republicans have to figure out some way to cram a huge number of people into a big room, and then hopefully not have too many of them die too quickly afterwards.
