Trump suggested during Friday's World Cup draw that soccer should be the real "football" in the United States and that the NFL should find another name for its sport.

Trump was on stage at the Kennedy Center in Washington alongside FIFA president Gianni Infantino, Mexico president Claudia Sheinbaum and Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney ahead of the group stage drawing for the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by three countries.

Do you know the history of why we don't call Soccer Football?

TLDR
- The Brits created soccer, they also created an association for soccer.
- Brits at the time like to shorten words, in an annoying way... Association became "Asoccer".. in their parlance.
- That got shortened even more to just "Soccer"
- At the same time the Brits were inventing "football" and "rugby football" in Britlandia, in the US we were inventing a sport called Gridiron Football which involved some parts of rugby and some parts of soccer...
- Brits came to teach us 'football' but we already had a game called Football as we had shortened "gridiron football" to, of course, "football"... But the Brits introduced us to the "Soccer" which was the popular nickname for the sport in Britlandia...

LInk to the history above...

He is the ultimate entertainer.
Is that what you call it, “entertainer”

I don’t think Americans were looking for an “entertainer” for the leader, there are “entertainers” everywhere, they want a leader, not an “entertainer.” And the irony is that most of the rest of the world where soccer reigns didn’t want to see an “entertainer,” least of all an “entertainer” they hold in low esteem, they wanted to see the draw

I don't know much about sports, but I do now that our football is popular in this county, and soccer is popular in Europe.
