Former President Donald J. Trump said he hoped Mark Meadows — his final White House chief of staff and a co-defendant in a sweeping racketeering indictment in Georgia stemming from efforts to thwart the 2020 election — was still “loyal” to him.

Mr. Trump made his comment during a lengthy interview with Kristen Welker, the new moderator of NBC’s “Meet The Press,” broadcast on Sunday morning. Mr. Trump has been warned by the federal judge in a case also stemming from his efforts to stay in office, brought against him by the special counsel Jack Smith, to avoid saying anything that might affect the testimony of witnesses. His comment about Mr. Meadows could attract new interest.

LOL. When he was in the position to sell pardons, that 'loyal' nonsense worked on a select few.

So trump believes people who are considerably more intelligent than he is, will simply sit in prison rather than turn on a criminal.

And he says Biden is losing it.

“By the way, do you think your former chief of staff, Mark Meadows, is still loyal to you? He just pleaded not guilty in the Georgia case,” Ms. Welker asked.

“Well, I hope he’s loyal to me,” Mr. Trump said.

“Do you worry about him flipping?” Ms. Welker asked.

“I mean, I didn’t do anything wrong,” Mr. Trump replied.

In fairness to Trump who never is fair to anyone it came in answer to a loaded question:

He wants to be a mob boss so badly he can taste it.

People who know they're genuinely innocent just hope witnesses will tell the truth, not wish that underlings will remain loyal.

He'd also demand a speedy trial so he can move on from these 'fake' indictments. Should be easy.

Meadows does not work for Trump. What is the loyalty?

It is a real power Trump still has and he knows it.

In many of these instances where people you would have expected to flip on Trump, have not (Proud boys, etc), it is because they are not just facing the two options most people face.

Most people face these options when dealing with over whelming evidence of guilt :

- take the deal and plead guilty and get reduced but still serious jail time

- don't take the deal and gamble in court and get multiples more jail time

Trump introduces Option 3, which many have to serious consider:

- stay loyal. Show him you are willing to go to jail for him (Flynn, Roger Stone, etc) and if he is POTUS you will get a pardon thus greatly shrinking your jail time or avoiding it all together.

That last option, for TrumpDerps, to gamble on him is often better than taking a deal that would still see them serve serious time.

If Jack wants Meadows to flip, i think he has to offer him a deal with zero jail time, something Prosecutors would be loath to do for a guy widely reported to have been hand in hand with Trump on this crime.
