I was looking for this somewhere on the site because it was Yesterday when he released them, but I couldn't find it so forgive me if somebody else already posted this.

(CNN)Donald Trump on Wednesday unveiled a list of 11 judges he would consider nominating to fill the seat of late Justice Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court, an unusual move for a presidential candidate that underscores his efforts to appeal to conservatives.

The list includes: Steven Colloton of Iowa, Allison Eid of Colorado, Raymond Gruender of Missouri, Thomas Hardiman of Pennsylvania, Raymond Kethledge of Michigan, Joan Larsen of Michigan, Thomas Lee of Utah, William Pryor of Alabama, David Stras of Minnesota, Diane Sykes of Wisconsin and Don Willett of Texas.

Considering the list, this is the reason I said earlier that while I'd hate to do it that I would likely vote Trump this year. If you remember I noted that SCOTUS picks are high on my list of reasons to vote party over person at that level. I dislike Trump intensely, but I like these picks.

I credit Trump for listing serious picks. People whose ideology I mostly disagree with, but intelligent well educated people.

I was afraid I would see Sarah Palin or Ted Cruz on the list. This is why I will be voting for HRC, even though I think she is tragically flawed she will appoint the opposite of these people to the SCOTUS.

So you say, Daddy Damocles.

I suspect you have been a Trumpkin from the start, and I predict that your enthusiastic support will only intensify.

I find his support interesting, he did not support McCain or Romney who both would have very likely chosen people from this list... but now, he is going to support Trump, who he dislikes, because he CLAIMS he will chose from this list... Trump has illustrated his flexibility many times about things he has said he would do in the past.

Do you find Daddy Damocles a credible witness on his own behalf, Counselor?

Damocles, who thinks himself objective, is not. He sometimes has insight that is objective in nature, but when he agrees to engage in honest debate, he generally agrees to be more liberal than he thinks he is.

In the past several years, he has generally refused to engage in honest debate, instead simply throwing out bumper sticker type slogans that he refuses to discuss or debate because, I suspect, he knows he cant honestly defend the positions they represent.

I can't blame you. These are all excellent people who have the demonstrated ability to drag this nation kicking and screaming back to the 19th century.

This was a total pander to the conservatives.

I'm torn on SCOTUS. I don't like the idea of a completely liberal court, but I also think if Trump is elected, he might get a chance to appoint as many as 4-5 justices, and if he's using this list, Roe likely gets overturned. It's also a disaster for gay rights.

I wish there was a more moderate option, but politics is so polarized now. Most of the country is probably more purple, but our gov't is hardcore red & blue.

Thats an example of convoluted reasoning as you'll ever run across.....

I will clarify, I see how what I wrote could be confusing to some.

She will appoint serious people, intelligent, well educated people, but opposite of Trump's picks in their ideology.

You allow you fears of what MIGHT or COULD be,

cloud your common sense...thats akin to saying you won't leave you house because you might be hit by a plane.

Roe will not be overturned....the SC has spoken on it and the argument is long over.....the only thing that could happen is some reasonable restrictions on when an
abortion is performed....and such things as parental notification and consent...

Gay rights ?......Don't you ever consider why gay rights and trans rights seem to be paramount while everyone else's rights seem to be secondary.....why should anyones
rights be adversely affected by another persons rights ? Rights we've enjoyed for centuries and now ignored .....

The cons have set up a situation where it will be hard for the Dangerous Donald to get any of the folks on this list through the confirmation process. The Republicans are currently blocking a well qualified moderate, so the Democrats will feel they are on solid ground when they block a well qualified right winger.

has anyone actually looked at these potential nominees? I'd like to see an Originalist - though I doubt there is one without being reactionary..

To the first point, Roe can definitely be overturned. If it's over, why do abortion cases still go before the court? Of course they can still overturn it, and will if they have the votes.

On the 2nd point, you just let me know how your rights are getting trampled because homosexuals can get married. How oppressed you must feel.

I know a bit about a few of them, pull up yesterdays thread on the topic.

This is funny.
You keep trying to make Trump out to be things he is not.
HRC is far more likely to nominate characatures as she's been bought and paid for for years and years.
