Kennedy was a devout Catholic and they probably used a non-Catholic Bible, as JFK was the first ever Catholic President.

  • Theodore Roosevelt (1901) did not use a Bible when he was sworn in after the assassination of President William McKinley. The ceremony took place in Buffalo, New York, and was done hastily, without the traditional trappings including a Bible.
  • Lyndon B. Johnson (1963) was sworn in aboard Air Force One after the assassination of John F. Kennedy. There was no Bible available for the ceremony, so he was sworn in without one.

These are the most commonly cited examples of presidents not using a Bible during their oath of office.

Ahhhhhhh, Nomad,.... ....Trump did the right thing. Taking an oath of any kind or swearing to something is basically an abomination according to the Bible. I would think ESPECIALLY so if you placed your hand on the very book that clearly says it is evil. A shame that heathens like yourself do not know that.
