Trump overtakes Crooked Hillary in RCP

This isn't really surprising since Trump has been trending up and Hillary remains stagnant. I thought maybe trotting Bill out of mothballs might have given her a boost but apparently not.

Rasmussen was the outlier in previous weeks, but it turned out to be predictive, in retrospect.

Where's Hillary's bounce? Will she ever dispose of Bernie? Can the fissures in the DNC edifice be repaired by convention time?

Time will tell.

I expect his numbers will improve once Mr. Sanders exits the race as well.

Those who were backing Sanders due to his opposition to current trade policy will likely move toward Trump once Sanders leaves the race.

I don't know what the democrats were thinking nominating Mrs. NAFTA herself as their nominee in this political climate anyway. They must just want to lose.

No Sanders supporter will ever back a Nazi. As far as I'm concerned, the moment someone says "I support Donald Trump" is the moment they renounce their American citizenship. The election of Trump's means the start of a CIVIL WAR between patriots and fascists.

I can't envision a more self-destructive soundbite than Hillary promising Bill will handle the economy for her. First, it plays into the hands of Bernmaster Sandy and Douchebag Donald, because it invites criticism of BJ's trade policy. Second, it sends a message that she can't handle the economy, and that she is not truly an independent woman.

The polls are interesting. Trump isn't really gaining ground - he sits at around 42-43% in most. It's more that Hillary has lost support.

I tend to think that's Sanders supporters who are ticked at her right now. I also think it's a bit of fantasy to think that most or even a significant # of those voters end up going to Trump. They're anti-establishment, but they're also on the left - just the idea of a conservative SCOTUS for the rest of their lives will push most of them back into the fold.

Trump is indeed gaining ground.

It's not a fantasy. Not all of Sander's supporters were idealist lefties. Many are working-class Americans fed up with our shit job market. Those will gravitate toward Trump.

It's not all of them by any means. But it is a significant number. The open borders/socialist types - you're right, those won't go to Trump. But the working class independents will. Because not all of Sander's supporters are on the left. Many are independent working-class Americans who are not ideologically driven. They just want good jobs back in their communities.

Hillary is always fighting yesterday's war. They think that because the economy did well under Billy she could trade on his success.

What is amazing about her comment is that it proves she can't stand politically on her own. Sad really but not at all surprising. She is not likeable. The more voters see her, the more turned off they get

Was it even Bill's economy? Newt Gingrich and the republican congress played a roll in it.

I was surprised more people didn't pick up on this. Like slick Willy, she managed to avoid criticism of her comment.

But you Fascists have very little in the world of guns.....now the NRA, the patriots, the troops, and the cons have the vast majority of the weapons...so good luck with your 'war'....

Hillary is many things but dumb isn't one of them. She had to know how bad that would sound, particularly since she's supposed to be a paragon of feminism. I think it was a sign of desperation. And I think she thinks, she has the feminists locked-up so it wouldn't matter with them.

Which is probably true.

Hillary is in trouble. Yes, it's still early and she's basically tied with Trump and not behind him, but she needs to figure out how to turn the tide. Trump can't stay out of the news and Hillary can't stay in it. There's no real interest in her campaign---they cover it because they have to.

Whereas Bernie and Trump are still drawing crowds and their people are decidedly more energetic. In a proper democracy it would be Trump vs Bernie.

Clinton is a creature of political convenience- she'll use it today and walk it back later - just like Trump

It will be interesting to see if HRC gets a bounce when the Democratic primary is over like Dangerous Donald did when his primary ended.

I suspect, and I might be wrong, that Sanders will ask is supporters to support HRC, and if he does, I think most will. The Democratic dislike and distrust of HRC is nothing like the Republican dislike and distrust was for Dangerous Donald, and they fell in line better than I expected.

If HRC gets a similar bump as Dangerous Donald got, she will be back on top. If she does not, Dangerous Donald could carry this lead right into November.

We shall see.
