Billionaire businessman Mark Cuban claimed Friday that Donald Trump is not rich enough to self-finance his campaign.

The NBA Dallas Mavericks owner told MSNBC host Chris Hayes his friendship with the Republican has unraveled as a result of his calling out Trump's lying about his wealth.

"He can't afford to self-finance no matter what he says," Cuban said.

Cuban, a self-described independent voter, said he recently took 15 minutes to add up Trump's reported finances and the billionaire is less well-off than he has claimed.

"At most he has at least $165 million, which is great by any standard that's a lot of money. But when you're trying to finance a presidential campaign, it's nothing," Cuban said.

Cuban explained any politician can claim whatever net worth he or she wants because there are ways to manipulate the amount of cash on hand when filling out tax returns.

But Cuban explained Federal Election Commission filings are a different story.

"You can't fake it on an FEC filing and he tried to fake his FEC filing as much as he could and maybe he'll get in trouble for that," Cuban said.

Trump knows he does not have enough money to self-fund his campaign through November, should he officially win the nomination next month and that's what has prompted him to ask the Republican National Committee for help, Cuban added.

Trump lies about everything. His boasts of 10 billion are probably false as well.

It's already been debunked.

Now, after claiming that he would never accept donor money, he's begging for it. He met with big-money lobbyists behind closed doors at Trump Tower last week.

His supporters are claiming that his self-financing claim only applied to the primaries.

I've been unable to discover a scrap of evidence to substantiate that spin.

Have you?

His claims of self financing was a huge selling point for his viability as honest over the rest of the field. There never was any time limit or other modifiers placed on the promise.
Those who voted for him at the time should file a law suit against Trump for false advertising.
LOL

He thinks he can win the general by the same method he did the primary, but the general takes lots of money to run ads on TV. He counted on cable news during the primary. A lot of people don't have cable. He now wants to piggy back on the state elections and I don't know if a lot of Congress want their re-elections aligned with Trump. It's going to be a long hot summer.

Trump also condemned PACs and big Republican's donors, some of the big Republican donors backed failed primaries and don't like Trump.

Only poor people don't have cable and they don't vote.

Ok, I said that facetiously but there is some truth there.

Trumptards won't believe that their Teflon Don has been exaggerating his wealth all this time.

The Hildebeast is outspending him and he's running out of lies.

Taking lobbyist money and bending the knee to donors, who will expect a return on their investment.

They will "own" him now. Just as he said about other republicans he ran against.

I think when it finally comes out just how little money he has on hand, that everyone will be in disbelief.
Trump is the ultimate bluff.

I predict that Trumptards will refuse to believe how they've been scammed.

They'll likely bluster that their Teflon Don has more money that anyone who laughs at him.
