Trump is trying to beat the indictment by announcing his campaign as fast as possible. He believes, and maybe he’s right, that is less likely to be indicted if he is running for president. You know he will scream that the only reason is to prevent him from getting president.

Exactly, plus it allows him to play the martyr role his lemmings love, plays well on Fox

Answer is no, but Garland is too principled, unlike Barr, he cares about the reputation of the Justice Dept and doesn’t want it portrayed as partisan. Better chance in Georgia and New York, but it wouldn’t matter, the worse Trump looks, the more the MAGA militia love him
