BREAKING: The Justice Department is now investigating potential misconduct inside the *Trump-run* mortgage probe targeting Sen. Adam Schiff — and the story is getting messy.
A key witness, California Republican Christine Bish, told CNN she thought she was providing evidence against Schiff… until prosecutors started asking whether she was being used by Trump appointees Ed Martin and Bill Pulte in some kind of improper scheme.
Bish says she’s barely interacted with either man, but admits she sent her “independent investigation” on Schiff to Pulte’s office earlier this year — which was then routed into DOJ hands.
Now DOJ officials, including those in Deputy AG Todd Blanche’s office, are looking into whether anyone falsely posed as a federal official during the probe.
If true, that’s a crime.
MS NOW is reporting more details. They note that a federal grand jury in Maryland is investigating whether Federal Housing Finance Agency director Bill Pulte and Justice Department prosecutor Ed Martin improperly appointed unauthorized people to help in mortgage fraud investigations of President Donald Trump's critics — and if they used illegal methods during the investigations.
Buckle up. More to come.
