Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed that she spoke with Trump, calling it an “excellent conversation.”

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — President-elect Donald Trump declared a win on stopping illegal immigration through Mexico on Wednesday after talking with that country’s leader. But Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum suggested Mexico was already doing its part and had no interest in closing its borders.

The two spoke just days after Trump threatened to impose sweeping new tariffs on Canada and Mexico as part of his effort to crack down on illegal immigration and drugs.

Trump said Sheinbaum “agreed to stop Migration through Mexico.” Sheinbaum indicated separately on social media that she told Trump that Mexico is already “taking care of” migrant caravans, calling it an “excellent conversation.”

“We reiterate that Mexico’s position is not to close borders but to build bridges between governments and between peoples,” Sheinbaum added.

While the state of the proposed tariffs remained unclear, Trump said in a post on his Truth Social account that this was “effectively closing our Southern Border.” He called it a “very productive conversation.”

That will only be the start of things.
As it has been said before for every one US auto worker employed there are something like 8 other people employed in supporting industries plus it will carry over to the retail industry because people are not going to have the money to spend.
And the US auto industry uses a LOT of parts made in Mexico.
Let the shit show begin and hang on to your ass it doesn't look good.

So, this is a pattern. Trump makes whitey hate brown folks even more than they already did. Then he says a bunch of untrue bullshit about building a wall or closing the border or ending drug addictions or creating humans in his own image. His galactically stupid voters jump their fat asses up and down to cheer. Nothing ever actually happened.

What I appreciate about this story/thread is Sheinbaum's ability to politely call Trump a liar.

Well it will be not only pick ups but cars and oil driving gas prices up.
The US auto industry imports a lot of parts from both Mexico and Canada and a lot of oil from Canada especially in the mid west.
Fucking with two of your biggest trading partners isn't a good idea at all.
This BS is going to come back and bite us in the ass HARD .
But the eight wingers and MAGA got what they wanted so now lets stand back and watch the shit show began.
And when the price of just about everything you buy goes up 20.30 40% or more watch them cry like babies.

The fucking wall is a joke. Why can't rightys see the solution to the problem is what we do with immigrants when they are here? I saw a video of an immigrant telling a politician that there are tunnels under the wall big enough for a golf cart. You can walk around the walls, boat around, and fly over. The ones going to the border seek jobs and new lives are not the problem. We know who they are and what they want. We need workers.
