Do you agree with Trump propping up and supporting China steel industry with American tax payer subsidies so Chinese steel can take out compete American steel?

@T. A. Gardner , as someone who complains about subsidies but tends to ignore the ones you like where does this one fall with you?

Coal used to make steel gets break in Trump’s tax bill

Coal used to make steel got a break in the latest version of President Donald Trump’s tax bill, a subsidy that could be worth hundreds of millions of dollars over 10 years for a fuel that is mostly exported to countries including China...
...
The subsidy would “send hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to China to subsidize dirty steel,” ...

...estimated that the credit could be worth $300 million to met coal producers sending coal to China over ten years and said the subsidy could help China compete with US-made steel....

The Megabill’s Most Bizarre Fossil Fuel Handout

A new subsidy for metallurgical coal won’t help Trump’s energy dominance agenda, but it would help India and China....

This is a core plank of Trumps' 'China and India First' platform brought to via American taxpayer subsidies and per the new hats on sale on his website.

The intent of this subsidy is to strengthen and enlarge US steel production with what's called "metallurgical coal." This is used for coking and blast furnace feed to make steel. It has a very specific set of uses. What this inclusion does is pull back the stupidity of the radical, environmentalist Left's "End Coal" ranting and strengthens a specific domestic industry that needs coal to produce its product.

So, unlike your ranting Leftist choices of source, the reality is that the US needs coal to make steel and much of the future of the coal industry is in realigning itself to production of coal for that purpose. On the radical Left, like your source Heatwave, where they can't tell the difference between coal for energy and coal for some other use, the reality is coal is a necessary raw material and if steel production in the US is to continue and expand, coal production needs to continue.

The "intent" you speak of does not change the REALITY which you will never read on the magat media you swim in.

Fact is, ...FACT... when the US mines more metallurgical coal with the US taxpayer subsidies, they export more of it to China and india and other nations.

THis will be a boon for the coal producers old money groups but will hurt taxpayers and US steel overall.

Metallurgical Coal Market: Global Industry Analysis and Forecast (2025-2032) by Type, End-User and Region

AI Overview

The U.S. steel industry is indeed concerned about the impact of metallurgical coal exports to China, particularly in the context of potential retaliatory tariffs and China's steel market fluctuations. While some see a potential opportunity for US coal exports to fill a gap left by other suppliers, others worry about the potential for further disruptions and decreased demand due to China's policies and economic conditions...

...In 2021, the top importers of U.S. metallurgical coal were India, China, Japan, the Netherlands, and South Korea. While India imported the most U.S. coal overall, a significant portion of its imports were steam coal, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). China, on the other hand, imported the second-highest amount of U.S. coal, with a large portion being metallurgical coal used in steel production. Japan also imported a significant amount of metallurgical coal from the US. The Netherlands primarily acts as a transshipment hub for coal, with only a small portion being used domestically...
