AMP Demands an End to U.S.-Backed Genocide and Global Accountability for Israel and the U.S.

American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) denounces the Trump administration’s flagrant betrayal of its moral and legal commitments: a betrayal that has set the stage for renewed genocide in Gaza tonight. Over the last 17 days, Israel was granted impunity to enforce a brutal siege, cutting off water and electricity and depriving Palestinians in Gaza of life-saving humanitarian aid –a deliberate and blatant violation of the U.S.-brokered ceasefire that was supposed to safeguard Palestinian lives. This calculated abandonment of American leadership has now emboldened Israel’s renewed assault, culminating tonight, in the massacre and injury of dozens of Palestinians in yet another calculated Israeli escalation of unconscionable violence.

As Palestinians in Gaza once again find themselves under the shadow of systematic aggression, the resumption of the Israeli genocidal campaign is a direct consequence of U.S. policies that have forsaken justice and human dignity. This is not a sudden lapse but a predictable outcome of an administration that backtracked on a critical ceasefire agreement, leaving a vulnerable population exposed to relentless military aggression.

AMP demands President Trump to immediately halt the flow of U.S. weapons and political backing that are actively fueling Israel’s ongoing genocide. By continuing to arm Israel and abandoning its ceasefire commitments, his administration is not just complicit– it is directly enabling and facilitating war crimes and crimes against humanity. Trump’s policies have rendered U.S. promises any legitimacy, exposing them as empty rhetoric while Palestinian lives continue to be sacrificed

Trump's direct role in the unfolding tragedy in Gaza must be fully acknowledged and unequivocally condemned. AMP demands that the international community hold both the Trump administration and Israel accountable for their crimes and take immediate action to restore humanitarian aid and protect Palestinians in Gaza and across occupied Palestine from the U.S. and Israel’s violence. Silence and inaction are not options.

Families of Israeli captives

The Hostages and Missing Families Forum, which represents the families of captives held in Gaza, said in a post on X that the Israeli government’s decision to attack showed that it had chosen “to give up on the hostages”.

“We are shocked, angry, and terrified by the deliberate dismantling of the process to return our loved ones from the terrible captivity of Hamas,” the group said. It asked the government why it “backed out of the ceasefire agreement” with Hamas.

Yemen’s Houthi group

Yemen’s Houthi rebels promised an escalation in support of Palestinians against a backdrop of mounting hostilities with the US.

“We condemn the Zionist enemy’s resumption of aggression against the Gaza Strip,” the Houthis’ Supreme Political Council said in a statement. “The Palestinian people will not be left alone in this battle, and Yemen will continue its support and assistance, and escalate confrontation steps.”

Palestinian Islamic Jihad

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) armed group accused Israel of “deliberately sabotaging all efforts to reach a ceasefire”.

China

China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said Beijing was “highly concerned” about the situation, calling for parties to “avoid any actions that could lead to an escalation of the situation, and prevent a larger-scale humanitarian disaster”.

Russia

The Kremlin warned of a “spiral of escalation” in the wake of Israel’s strikes.

“Especially concerning of course are the reports of major casualties among the civilian population,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. “We are monitoring the situation very closely and, of course, we are waiting for it to return to a peaceful course.”

Egypt

Egypt, which is acting as a mediator alongside Qatar and the US, called Israel’s air strikes a “flagrant violation” of the deal.

The strikes constitute a “dangerous escalation which threatens to have bring serious consequences for the stability of the region”, said the foreign ministry.

Iran

Foreign Ministry spokesperson said the US had direct responsibility for “the continuation of genocide in the occupied Palestinian territories”.

Jordan

“We have been following since last night Israel’s aggressive and barbaric bombing of the Gaza Strip,” said government spokesman Mohammed Momani, underlining “the need to stop this aggression”.

Turkey

Turkey said the attacks amounted to a “new phase in its policy of genocide” against Palestinians.

In a statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry added it was unacceptable for Israel to cause a “new cycle of violence” in the region, adding the Israeli government’s “hostile approach” threatened the future of the Middle East.

Belgium

“I call on the parties to implement the second phase of the agreement, which must pave the way for reconstruction and peace for all,” Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot wrote on X.

He denounced “the new Israeli strikes and their heavy human toll”, adding that Israel’s blocking of humanitarian aid to Palestinians was “a serious violation of international law”.

Netherlands

Foreign Minister Casper Veldkamp said on X that “all hostilities must end permanently”.

“The Netherlands calls on all parties to respect the terms of the Gaza ceasefire and hostage deal. All civilians must be protected, “ he said. “We urge all parties to implement it in full: the remaining hostages must be released, humanitarian aid must reach those in need.”

Norway

Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store said the Israeli strikes were “a great tragedy” for the people of Gaza. “They are almost without protection. Many of them live in tents and the ruins of what has been destroyed,” he said.

Switzerland

“Switzerland calls for an immediate return to the ceasefire, the release of all hostages, and unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid,” the foreign ministry wrote on X.

United Nations

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, voiced his horror over the intense Israeli strikes.

“This will add tragedy onto tragedy,” he said in a statement. Israel’s resorting to yet more military force would “only heap further misery upon a Palestinian population already suffering catastrophic conditions”.

Philippe Lazzarini, the head of UN Palestinian refugee agency UNRWA condemned the attack on social media. “Awful scenes of civilians killed among them children following waves of heavy bombardment from Israeli Forces overnight,” he wrote. “Fuelling ‘hell on earth’ by resuming the war will only bring more despair & suffering.”

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR)

CAIR, a Washington DC-based Muslim civil rights and advocacy organisation, said in a statement that it condemned the Netanyahu government “for resuming its horrific and genocidal attacks on the men, women and children of Gaza, killing hundreds of civilians in a matter of hours”.

“Netanyahu would clearly rather massacre Palestinian children in refugee camps than risk the disintegration of his cabinet by exchanging all those held by both sides and permanently ending the genocidal war, as required by the ceasefire agreement that President Trump helped broker and that he must salvage,” the organisation said.

Australia

“There’s already been enormous suffering there [in Gaza], which is why we’re calling upon all parties to respect the ceasefire and hostage deal that was put in place,” Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said.

“We’ll continue to make representations. Australia will continue to stand up for peace and security in the region.”

Israel doesn't care about the captives. It always planned to reboot the genocide

It is President Trump and his administration that must be held responsible for every Palestinian death from here on out

What excuses has Israel given for renewing the genocide:

1. Israel says it is trying to force Hamas to release the captives in Gaza.

Yet, as we know from those already released, the indiscriminate bombing of Gaza only increases the chances the captives will be killed. There is no plausible scenario in which dropping US-supplied 2,000lb bombs across Gaza makes any Israeli held in Gaza safer or brings them home sooner.

In any case, there was a known and easy way for Israel to get the last of the captives back. They were due to be freed in the second phase of the ceasefire agreement, already well past its implementation date. But weeks ago Israel decided to tear up the agreement it had signed and impose new terms in which the rest of the captives would have to be returned – and without Israel either ceasing its fire or withdrawing from the enclave, as it had agreed to do.

What Israel’s return to genocide shows is that the Israeli government would rather kill the remaining captives – vaporising them with Trump’s latest shipment of 2,000lb bombs – than either make a concession to secure their release or place any limitation on its ability to slaughter the people of Gaza.

2. Israel claims Hamas was re-arming and planning a new attack.

As ever Israel is inverting the truth. It was Israel that was re-armed by the Trump administration with the bombs now tearing apart Gaza's children. Hamas – isolated from the outside world – had no obvious route to re-arming.

And as for plans for another October 7, both Hamas and the world were shocked its fighters managed to break out of the tiny, besieged territory of Gaza the first time. Hamas assumed it would be a suicide mission. It succeeded only because Israel had grown so complacent in its 17-year siege of the enclave, it imagined the 2.3 million people there were permanently entombed.

Israel’s assumption was the Palestinians would never manage to find a way out of the giant concentration camp Israel had built for them. Israel will not likely drop its guard again any time soon.

In other words, Israel is flat out lying about its reasons for renewing the slaughter. It is lying as it has done over and over again, throughout the past 18 months.

Israel always intended to reboot the genocide as soon as the Trump administration had been able to take credit for negotiating the ceasefire. Then they could work together to concoct a new set of pretexts – based on lies about who was violating the ceasefire – to justify why more of Gaza's children needed to be murdered.

Certainly, Joe Biden and his officials must be put on trial in the Hague for the first 15 months of the genocide. But it is Trump and his administration that are responsible for every Palestinian death from here on out.
