The Morgan County Sheriff's Department says a 13-year-old Hedgesville boy was killed in what investigators said was an accidental shooting during backyard target practice.

The sheriff's office said the boy's father, 51-year-old William Butler, fired the shot that killed his son Saturday night.

Chief Deputy Tony Link told The Journal of Martinsburg that Butler had taken his son to the backyard to shoot handguns.

Two handguns were recovered from the scene.

A young New York father was killed Sunday when he was riddled with a barrage of bullets outside a Brooklyn grocery store according to the New York Post.

Police said Anthony McRae, 22, was standing outside a deli and grocery store on in Brooklyn's Brownsville neighborhood shortly after 4:30am Sunday when shots rang out.

Investigators said they were not sure why McRae was targeted.

McRae put off college and was working two jobs to help support his 2-year-old son, relatives said.

"He was a great kid and a good father," said McRae's aunt, Vivian Presley. "He wasn't running around. We stayed on him about college. He loved to work but we always said 'go back to school."

McRae's mother Vicky was overcome with grief, relatives said.

"This can't be happening," she told relatives as she stood near her son's body. "This is just a dream. Am I still sleeping?"
