Why should the 99% carry the load while the 1% shirk? The rich and mega-corporations have gotten tax cuts for more than 10 years and unemployment has gotten worse.
Some pretend that the rich pay "more" than others, but this is specious. The rich often pay less as a percentage of income than wage earners do.
Incredibly, those who shill for big money claim that allowing the disatrous Bush tax cuts to expire will cause economic ruin in spite of a decade of evidence to the contrary.
As a last ditch effort, the defenders of the indefensible claim that allowing capital gains taxes to revert to sensible levels will "kill investment". Maybe they aren't aware of the facts...
Section 2011 of the Small Business Jobs Act of 2010 exempts 100% of the taxes on capital gains for angel and venture capital investors on small business investments if held for 5 years.
The temporary 100% exclusion of capital gain from the sale of certain small business stock under IRC § 1202 was extended further through 2011 by the H.R. 4853: Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010 as a jobs stimulus.
