NEW YORK — Tens of thousands of workers are expected to leave work early Tuesday to protest the one-year anniversary of President Trump’s second inauguration.(y)

Nearly 40,000 people RSVP’d to participate in a 2 p.m. Eastern time Free America Protest, according to Axios.

Free America encourages demonstrators to meet Tuesday wearing red, white and blue in locations including Central Park, Prospect Park, Washington Square Park and Trump Tower in Midtown. At least 800 events associated with that movement are slated for what’s shaping up to be a frigid afternoon in New York City.

“This is not a request. This is a rupture. This is a protest and a promise,” Free America says on its website.

Event organizers are also encouraging students to leave their classrooms to join marchers objecting to the Trump administration’s first year in office, which has included federal law enforcement being deployed in U.S. cities and unprovoked aggression toward longstanding allies.

Women’s March Managing Director Tamika Middleton helped organize Tuesday’s protest. She said participants want to send a message “that we withdraw our consent from what is happening” within the Trump administration.

According to Axios, Tuesday’s activities could be a sign of things to come as the sophomore year of Trump’s second presidency gets underway.

National No Kings rallies protest reportedly attracted 7-million participants in October. Thousands of New Yorkers, including elected officials, marched on Fifth Avenue this month in a related demonstration. Researchers claim that increasingly large protests can be effective in forcing change.

“In the face of fascism, we will be ungovernable,” Free America’s website claims.

President Trump celebrated the state of the nation with a social media post declaring “America is back!!!” late Monday afternoon.

He cites the soaring stock market and tightened U.S. borders among his successes over the past year.

Reactions: TOP
Especially if the 40K includes students ditching class!
Not an excuse absence.... Although our students here don't have class today... So they'll either get left home alone or their parents will drag them to this meetingless protest...😉 There are actually two protests planned for today here...😂

Lazy people calling in to work,....no big deal. People like that are barely even missed. In fact a lot of the times companies find that they can function without missing a beat because they are very low output workers which leads to missing workers being axed.

Exactly...
I want to see one example of Someone who will be missed
If they walk out...

FB_IMG_1768910719451.jpg This is one of the local Outrages today... According to the social media posts there are going to be more people applying for these positions and attending this fair than originally expected.... good job activists!! Pun intended...

Very true...
I've yet to see a "walk out" accomplish anything... Am I missing something?
Not sure when a successful national strike happened in America....and too I expect that Trump would react very negatively if the American people attempted one.
