This ought not make the Flat Earthers happy

I swear. The stuff that passes for humor w/ Trumpers....

The Republican Party is still a viable American political party that can still win elections.
Given the insane shit that they say and do, this is indeed a sobering thought.

The republic as it exists today cannot and will not survive this.

Responsible people in civilized blue states
need to be making serious, non-moderate plans for their future
right now
or that future will be a dystopia
that even Hawkeye10 couldn't imagine.

Appropriate funding levels and what that funding is spent on is certainly up for debate. Reasonable people can disagree but outside of a fringe group having issues with current legislation does not make one a flat earther.

Is man made climate change open for debate? the effects of climate change open for debate?

And when comparing the Government money shoveled out to big oil what was recommended here to address climate change is a small fraction, and those objecting to such under the disguise of “reasonable spending” should be characterized in colorful terms

These are the same people who vehemently told us cigarette smoking wasn’t detrimental to one’s health and seat belts were never a factor in saving lives

You can thank maga NASCAR for seat belts.

White lib hollywood promoted the heck out of cigarette smoking.

Inflation Reduction Act, including a $4.5 billion program for homeowners to switch to more energy efficient appliances and a $1 billion grant program to help states craft more stringent building energy codes.”

Bam! ... white lib elite corporate welfare.

How we should address climate change is certainly open to debate. Not all good sounding programs produce good results or have a good ROI. I understand how the politics work, we often try to paint anyone who disagrees with what we want as extremists. It's often a successful tactic. But that doesn't change what I wrote.

And then he returns with an energy company to back up his claims, they’ll never get it
So apparently you think the Electric company can defy the laws of physics and make more energy from than the energy they consume. And I guess you think powerlines don't lose energy. You are a science denier.

I don't disagree w/ that. And I think it's too late to stop global warming just in general.

But it's more of a mindset. People who care about the planet shouldn't be compared to cultists. "Environmentalist" is almost a dirty word at this point, as though it's wacko to care about keeping our planet livable for this & future generations.

There is no way any objective person could look at the situation today and think it is in any way sustainable for the future. We are being irresponsible to those future generations right now.

Yes, the hard-core environmentalists should be compared to cultists. It takes one question to sort the cultists in environmentalism from the sane and realist ones:

How much pollution should we allow?
