This is called saving GM?

I ain't one of those Harvard intellectuals like Chairman Maobama, but it seems to me that building something that costs $89,000 and selling it for $39,000 is not a recipe for business success, unless of course you are using tax payer dollars to prop it up. Then I guess it makes sense.

What was it that Plugs Biden said about GM being alive? How long will it be before we have to bail them out again?

Part of that cost quoted in the article is the research and the retoolingthe assembly line to make the car. That is always a drawback to any new development.

Look at drug manufacturers, the old saying that the first pill costs $3 million, but the second pill is $3.

So yes, this is saving GM.

BTW, from the OP linked article, "The actual cost to build the Volt is estimated to be an additional $20,000 to $32,000 per vehicle, according to Munro and the other industry consultants.".

Winter....they have shut down production......the battery plant that makes the Volt batteries here in Holland is packing up it's machines to ship them back to Korea.....this is NOT saving GM.....

I didn't know the line had shutdown. I was just answering the question in the OP about the cost per vehicle and the price of the vehicle.

My mistake.

As usual in your haste to blindly defend the big eared douchebag and all that he touches, you miss the point.

The point isn't whether or not R&D us factored into the costs. The costs are the costs.

The point is that you can't sell something for less than you produce it and hope to be in business very long with that product.

I know you libturds live in this fantasy land where nobody goes hungry and businesses just do things to assuage the collective consciences of the worlds leftists. But, reality always fucks you guys up
