If there were a victim in a Gay Marriage your analogy might hold water, but there isn't. It's a silly strawman.

Well then, we can just claim that homosexuals are 'victims' of homosexuality, so we have to look out for them! Se how easy that was to solve? No problem right? See, you've just proclaimed that children would be 'victims' but not everyone agrees with you on that. As I said, in ancient Rome and Greece, this was commonly considered to be a 'right of passage' and part of growing up, it actually was "beneficial" to children, they weren't "victims" at all... WE created the "victim-hood" status with our silly arbitrary and archaic laws based on birth dates. How can someone 15 years and 364 days old, be a "victim" and someone one day older, not be a "victim?" Who the hell are YOU to decide that for me? Who are you to decide that for the parties involved? Is it affecting YOU? Is it going to destroy YOUR marriage? Is someone going to force YOU to go marry a child?

GOOD... then government should step aside and allow 12-year-olds to consent to marriage, if they want to. A 12-year-old has reached sexual maturity in the species, it is perfectly natural and normal for them to mate and reproduce... so why not allow it? Just because YOU think it's "icky" is your reason?

I think allowing a child of 12 to be sexually molested does a great deal of harm to the child. We created the laws that prohibit it to protect the child. Therein lies the problem in your strawman argument. There is no harm to either party in a gay marriage.

Once again, this is about consenting adults.

Because life has become inestimably easier most of our children are not mentally suited for parenthood even though they might be physically sufficiently mature. So society has decreed that young people should not bear children. In the last few decades it has become even more impractical as, in many households, both parents now choose to, or are forced to, go out to work.

A modern child of twelve is a quite different creature from a child of twelve 5000 years ago. Because life has become inestimably easier most of our children are not mentally suited for parenthood even though they might be physically sufficiently mature. So society has decreed that young people should not bear children. In the last few decades it has become even more impractical as, in many households, both parents now choose to, or are forced to, go out to work.

A modern homosexual is quite different than a homosexual 5000 years ago. Because life has become inestimably easier most homosexuals are not mentally suited for parenthood, although they might be physically sufficiently mature. Plus there is the fact that two of the same gender can't possibly reproduce. So society has decreed that marriage should be between a man and woman. Wow... that was so easy to refute Gay Marriage, I am surprised someone hasn't thought of it sooner!

Oh, and by the fucking way... Until the mid 1950s, most states allowed marriage of children as young as 12. So it hasn't been 5000 years, it was perfectly legal just 50 years ago, unlike GAY marriage, which has NEVER been legal.
