The radical right wingnuts in the Ohio legislature just passed a bill through the house that would permit concealed carry of fire arms in bars in the State of Ohio. That's beyond stupid. It's fucking insane! I wonder how many people would have to die in bar fights before they see just how fucking stupid this is. One can only hope the State Senate will kill this bill!
 
It's fucking stupid. I mean gun nuts really expect that people would go to a bar with a gun and wouldn't drink? I mean what sort of paranoid idiot feels they need to carry a gun into a bar and if you felt you needed to carry a concealed weapon into a bar.....why the fuck would you go to that bar in the first place? If I was a bar or restraunt owner and this piece of lunacy passes, you'd see a great big sign on my establishment. "This is a peaceful establishment. No weapson are permitted. Period!"

PA hasn't had any problems like that.
 
I'm not entirely acquainted with OH law (they're filthy profligates and all that), but in most states if you make a majority of your profits from the sale of alcohol you are considered a bar. So even places, like say Chilis, that are full time restaurants, can be considered a bar. I mean, what's wrong with a person wanting to protect themselves or their families while they're out to eat? What if I'm DDing at a bar? I'd like to be able to protect myself and my friends, should the rare need arise. You're arguing a fallacy Mott, as there is no significant issue with other states that allow the same.

Apparently Bfgrn was wrong, and that "faith" that people have in humans aren't from the 'liberals'...

For an interesting sidebar, according to the studies he linked to the people who wanted to make sure nobody carried a gun into a bar were the "conservatives". They wanted to maintain the status quo, were offering more authority and trust to "authority figures" than to the individual, and clearly believed that people would do as they were told as a matter of course.
