Trump threatens Comey in new tweet

(CNN)President Donald Trump issued a thinly veiled threat Friday to fired FBI Director James Comey, an extraordinary development in the ongoing feud between the President and the agencies investigating alleged ties between his campaign and Russia.

"James Comey better hope that there are no 'tapes' of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press," the President tweeted.

When he fired Comey earlier this week, Trump garnered comparisons to President Richard Nixon and his infamous decision to remove the special prosecutor investigating Watergate crimes in 1973. The Watergate scandal accelerated drastically when it was revealed Nixon taped conversations in the White House. Trump didn't provide further details Friday on whether he was taping conversations.

Extraordinary.
I am pretty sure none of us can remember a President in our lifetimes - Democratic or Republican - who fired a top federal law enforcement official who was investigating members of the president's campaign, and then openly issued threats against this person.

For the posters who have built worship shrines to Drumpf in their bedrooms, I am not sure how they continue to defend this behavior in good conscience. But I am sure WorldNutDaily or the broader wingnutosphere will have talking points published shortly for these posters to parrot!
 
Simple question for those clutching their pearls

1) Was it Trumps right to fire Comey?
2) Why does he need a reason?

Personally I think Trump is overthinking everything because he watches the news too much.

All he had to say is "I am firing Comey as I don't think he is up to the job". End of story. Have a nice day. Let them kvetch. But, it will blow over

Not only that, but if he secretly taped a private conversation between himself and Comey, as he is insinuating, and he makes the tape public or even turns it over to a Congressional committee, he will be guilty of breaking the law himself.
