Why? If Hamas has taken Americans, then US special forces will go in to take them back with US naval airpower providing cover. Iran usually supplies by sea. Sinking their boats will be okay. Egypt needs to lock down their border to prevent any terrorists from accessing their areas.

Egypt already has locked their border down. If you look at Google Maps or the equivalent, Egypt has created about a 20 km buffer zone on their border with Gaza where they've moved out all the civilians and demolished all the buildings to prevent tunneling exits from Gaza into Egypt.
As for speedboats, the Israelis are already on that...
I particularly like how they don't just hit some speedboat once, but repeatedly to make sure the job is finished.
If our people are inside Gaza on a rescue mission, I'd prefer US aircover watching them. Nothing against the Israelis. I've worked with them in the 80s. Just that when American lives are at risk, I wouldn't want to risk any miscommunications.
Besides, what better excuse to blow up a bunch of Iranian shit? We did the same with Libya; they sent out a couple of jets to attack our people, we shot them down, sank a bunch of their gunboats and blew up every radar station within reach.

The USS Gerald R. Ford was in the western Mediterranean when it received orders to deploy. Depending on its precise location, it could have to travel over a thousand miles.
Austin also announced steps to augment U.S. Air Force fighter aircraft squadrons in the region. USAF aircraft are going into bases in the Middle East where they will be available for operations against Iran.
The munitions the U.S. will be sending over are being airlifed.
