The U.S. needs a democracy overhaul. Here’s what Biden’s first step should be.

Isn't it funny how the Electoral College is a wonderful thing till your side loses then all of a sudden it becomes an antiquated system that needs to be replaced.

I don't think we should replace it, but making its votes proportional makes sense. Wouldn't you like your favorite (R) candidate to get at least a few votes in blue, blue NY or California? Shouldn't the (R) voters who live in those states have a voice?

BTW,...most D's dont like to talk about what I posted above. In fact they generally run in shame from it. Cant blame them either...;) But do they do anything about it? Do they change it? HELL NO! Because they think a time will come when it serves their interests. Fucking Hypocrites.

Each state elects its Representatives based on a district. Each state elects two Senators state wide. The President does not represent a state, he represents all the people. There is no reason to allow the states to affect how your vote for President is determined.

No it's not false! You are one of the minority leftist morons that advocate mob rule. Tell you what. Let's go by state not state population. 1 state 1 vote the winner of the most states wins. Then we would have a truly fair system. You want a stacked deck in that the majority of the most populated states normally go to the Democrat. Sorry sport we see right through your BS.

Wow, you are a rural state elitist. Never happening and totally not an equitable system. In fact, it is utterly indefensible.
I'm glad the sausage didn't get made that poorly when the framers made it. The only reason we have an electoral college
to begin with is that the federalists had to make a whorehouse fire sale deal to get the Jeffersonians to sign up. A poorly negotiated contract
we are sadly stuck with. There is no cogent rationale.

I did not put you on my ban list, but maybe I will next time.

Bernie didn't win. Biden won bigly over Bernie. And Trump would have beat Bernie, so I'm not sympathetic. That result was a fair outcome.
The most popular candidate of all is the President this time.

Got it,.... it was o.k to disenfranchise those voters who gave Sanders the win in every single county of said state? Why even bother voting then if its just a sham? Its so the DNC can still suck the state dry of political contributions. Thats why. ;)

While I tend to agree I believe it should be up to each state on how they proportion their electors. Our whole constitution revolves around sate and personal rights. So let the people of each state decide the issue.

What if a state decides fat people don't count and you have to wear a federalist tie to the polling station, which will
be open at a time that disenfranchises third shift employees and night watchmen?

More to the point, why would you support a system whose goal is to select a leader of the entire USA in the hands of
little parts of which? Do you make a pizza by having 50 pizzamakers make a sliver each however they want and then sew it together?

You need to read my answers before commenting. Post 22. And the endnote wink just makes you look foolish considering you misapprehended completely.
I'm not for any injustice done to Bernie. Bernie knows he lost to Joe.

President-elect Joe Biden’s first acts should be to convene a high-level commission to recommend a democracy overhaul.

Maybe the cleanest way is simply to abolish the electoral college in favor of a straight national popular vote. Or maybe there is another idea — such as proportional allocation of electoral college votes between the top two candidates in each state — that makes more sense.

The commission should look at encouraging more voter participation. That could mean universal voter registration, which would make the process less arduous but potentially more secure, or making Election Day a holiday.

We need a democracy overhaul, Washington Post is correct.
rofl.. so MAIL IN BALLOTS is too much for you to handle??

"Americans should also have confidence that partisan officials will not be able to reject voting results. Internationally, the United States is unusual in that its chief voting administrators — state secretaries of state — are partisan elected officials. "
well now you are finally coming around..
and they have no Constitutional authority -nor do any courts -to change state legislative election laws
