The Truth from the Israel Defense Forces Spokesman

IDF Spokesman General Efi Dafrin made an unforgivable gaffe on television when, while explaining the difficulties of the war in Gaza, he cited the fact that Israeli soldiers are fighting not a regular army, but a guerrilla war. Yes, but a guerrilla is someone who voluntarily wages armed struggle for the freedom and independence of their country as part of an organized armed guerrilla force in enemy-occupied territory, using guerrilla warfare methods that do not involve open confrontation with the regular army of the occupying power—in other words, terrorist methods. This is how Jewish partisans carried out a terrorist attack in 1946: they blew up the King David Hotel in Jerusalem. The terrorist attack killed 91 people, including 41 Arabs, 17 Jews, 28 British, and five others. The distinction between guerrillas and terrorists is rather arbitrary and subject to circumstantial circumstances.(1) General Dafrine, by calling the war in Gaza a guerrilla war, revealed a truth Israel is afraid to admit.

Usually, in a guerrilla war, the aggressor is defeated, for a guerrilla war is essentially a people's war. For example, the Soviet Union, with its planes, missiles, and tanks, suffered a shameful, crushing defeat in Afghanistan at the hands of guerrillas armed with homemade machine guns and donkeys instead of armored personnel carriers. A guerrilla war can only be won by exterminating the people or driving them to another country, and in reality, Israel is trying to achieve just that in Gaza. Israel, by waging war in Gaza, ignores international law and in this respect is no different from Putin's Russia.
