Well at Wal Mart anyway.

Wal-Mart's same-store sales rise in January

NEW YORK (AP) -- Wal-Mart Stores Inc., the world's largest retailer, said Thursday that same-store sales rose 2.1 percent in January as consumers continued to hunt for bargains and bought necessities like groceries.

Sales in stores open at least one year, a key retail metric known as same-stores sales, rose 2.1 percent at the company's U.S. namesake stores and 2.4 percent at its Sam's Club warehouses during the four weeks ended Jan. 30.

Including fuel, same-store sales rose 1.5 percent.

The results edged past Wal-Mart's own forecast for sales that would be flat to up 2 percent, as well as analyst expectations for a 1.1 percent rise.

You are always right much the the chagrin of many a right leaning poster.

I hear that some credit card cos are downgrading the credit of users who are now shopping at walmart when they used to shop at the posh stores.

just for ya'lls info
Louisiana was the only state to add Jobs last year.
I live in the richest Parish in the state, and yes the parking lots are jammed packed and so are the restraunts.

Duh. It's also the only state that had a mass exodus and then a repopulation which were "new jobs" when they returned to work.

tool there was no mass return in 08
I believe that it doesn't take a "mass return", it just takes more people returning.

The fact that rebuilding New Orleans created most of the jobs you are celebrating notwithstanding, returning people also get jobs and that adds to the "new jobs" numbers. They are artificially inflated because of Katrina.

We quite shoping at Publix (the more expensive grocery store) a few months ago, now we only go to SuperWalmart.... Much more of a hassle but much cheaper.
