Bragg is part of the state government, not the city government. His district is the County of New York, which is part of New York City, but not all of it. Most crimes are prosecuted by the state, not local governments.

The FEC political appointees blocked a prosecution, but the Justice Department could still prosecute.

If that were true, it would be easy to prove. Sadly for trump, it is not true. The clock on statute of limitations in New York stopped when he moved out of the state. he got 3 years into a 5 year statute of limitations.

Besides, that is only the state law. If you concede that the statute of limitations is important, you are also conceding that trump is covered under state laws.

Almost all criminal cases are presented by state level DA's like Bragg. It is very much his lane.
